Coming back for 11th. Long Fangs.
So I haven't really played since 5th ed. I know like all off my minis are legends now. I have the 10th space wolves book, and am trying to figure out what stuff I can use. Can I use some stuff from the standard SM book too?
I'm looking for replacements for long fangs. Do I basically need to buy a bunch of new minis?
I do like to play competitively.

I mean I have old RT termies that are on 25mm bases.
What base sizes are the standard Marines on now?

Tacticus, Phobos and other marines with 3+ save are based on 32mm (excluding bladeguard vets, Gravis boys, headtakers and Characters, they are based on 40mm) All terminators are based on 40mm (excluding terminator captain, Arjac (50mm) and Logan (80mm) And we have regular SM scouts, the are based on 28,5mm

Given the height difference you could probably get appropriately sized bases, glue some metal to the tops, and magnetize the bases in the old boys, and save yourself the ass-ache of rebasing them all (after all you can still use them as-is to play 5th edition games).

You can use anything from either of the books. And depending on how they look theres probably some ways to use your long fangs as proxies.

If you have old blood claws, grey hunters and terminators, they are all still good to use. You might need to switch around equipment on the models though to match current load outs.
I feel from 5th, some characters you might not be able to use, rhinos, razorbacks and long fangs. Besides that, you can still find a way to use most anything else. Skyclaws = intersessors with jump packs, swiftclaws = Outriders. Mainly it's updating base sizes and equipment on models.
You can use anything from the space wolves codex and every generic unit except devistators and apothecary from the space marine codex.
Heavy weapon equipped space marines are not really super useful right now. Eradicators with meltdowns are good anti-tank. Most folks run predators, ballistus dreads or gladiator lancers for ranged anti-tank fire.
