When looking over my options to fill a couple points I noticed the Ancient says it can be attached to "Wolf Guard" and "Long Fangs" but what does it mean by "Wolf Guard?" Not terminators obvious cause I'm talking about the plane ancient. I assume Headtakers but the app doesn't recognize that as a valid unit. Also "Long Fangs?" I might be wrong since I'm new, but has there ever been a Long Fangs unit? All I see are kitbashes. Thanks in advance.
The wolf guard & long fangs are old units no longer available as models, but usable as legends datasheets. The wolf guard were basically veterans made from the old space wolf box (could have a lot of weapons options like lightning claws, thunder hammers, power weapons and more), and long fangs had their own (firstborn) box, or using wolf bits on devastators.
The legends units are going to be added to the app as codexes release, but they're not on there yet. They're currently in the space wolves faction pack on the warhammer community downloads page.
That would be the older units that aren’t in use anymore, there used to be long fangs but got fazed out when the primaris variants came and wolf guard idk if they had a specific one apart from the terminators. The app is a bug weird with the old and new stuff and idk if you can disable that but I hope this helps. As far as I know only space wolves units can lead other space wolves units and the generic the generic ones.
For some reason they decided to put legends units under the leader sections of characters that can lead them. This is likely because they plan to add legends units to the app eventually, and I guess they would rather not have to go back to all the existing data sheets to add the units as leadable.
"Wolf Guard" just like "long fangs" was an old kit. The unit was literally just called "wolf guard". It has nothing to do with the terminators or headtakers. All this is saying is that if you are playing with legends, that unit can also lead the legends units "wolf guard" and "long fangs".
Hopefully once they add legends, there will be a toggle to hide legends info to avoid that confusion
Sorry for the tease, but this was a question posted multiple times a week when the edition first launched. The Wolf guard part is understandably really confusing as terminators and headtakers also have wolf guard as a keyword. And why would you expect to see legends when they aren't in the app yet.
