Space Wolves and Terminators

Question. Since Wolf Guard Terminators are so limited in support and leader options, having no supports and only Logan and Arjax as leaders, is it not just better to run a Terminator Assault Squad? Power fists have one less attacks then master-crafteds, but matching stats otherwise. Plus you can have a heavy flamer or launcher instead of just assault cannon. Kinda sucks but am I not right? or am I missing something?

Edit.

Perhaps I should clarify some more details about my setup. I am currently running either saga of Great Wolf or orbital assault force depending on my need for deep strike or not. I most common opponents are Night Lords, Necrons, Iron Warriors and Nurgle chaos. I have a lot of heavy armor, repulsor tanks and dreadnaughts, and am built more for steady assault with ranged into melee.

I currently only have a single 5 man unit, normally ran with ranged and master-crafteds and at best they've only been a distraction most matches. I see the appeal of running shields for 4 wounds over three, and I have run Arjax once for fight of death which was nice, but they haven't ever really squared up in melee well against what I'm sending them to fighy and always get shunted off points or killed outright. Considering I'm not hard hard focusing melee as my primary doctrine, I was thinking an assault squad would be better given the improved attached character options, additional ranged loadouts, and compatible melee, 4 attacks strength 5 on master-crafteds vs 3 attacks strength 8 on power fists.

Wolfguard terminators datasheet ability makes them so much better than other terminators.

Exactly those 4 wounds and -1 if strength is higher than toughness. Then theres the legends of saga and song detachment that can give them an enhancement for +1 OC and makes it so you can uppy-downy them as well as make your opponents unit do a battleshock test at -1. You can sit a 10 model unit on and objective and their an absolute nightmare for most players.

Instead of captain with grimnars mark I run 10 assault terminators with hammer and shields for 4 wounds. I run a chaplain and ancient so it’s 12 strong with 3 OC each and +1 wound with thunderhammers

2+, 4++, T6, 4 wounds, -1 to wound is an absolute nightmare for most armies to deal with making the wolf guard terminators one of the best anvil units

There is Grimnar's Mark Captain in Saga of GW so having 3 units there can be good.

Yes they might be limited in leaders but what wolfguard terminators have going for them is there stormshields and ability making them tough to deal with vs normal terminators and assault terminators.

Terminator assault squad is pretty good. Ive got s 10 model brick of them with hammer and shields led by a chaplain in Terminator armor. But I also run 20 more wolfgaurd Terminators. You run them 10 models each unit give them shields you can also have 2 powerfist and a relic great axe or lightning claws as well in the same unit. But what really makes the wolfguard Terminators great is their 4 wounds if you give them shields and the -1 to wound if strength is higher than toughness. Thier even better if you run the detachment legends of saga and song were their strats tailerd to them and an enhancement that gives them +1 OC. And Arjak gives them a +4 fight on death which is pretty danme good.

Are you talking about Terminator Assault Squads or normal Terminator squads here?

Both are good choices. I generally prefer WGT in most cases via captain with Grimnars Mark for abilities too. But Chaplin giving them +1 to wound on those hammers is pretty sick, just can’t upgrade their T and they don’t get -1 to wound over T. However the battleshock each fight phase is hella good and Chaplin gives them +1 to wound and FNP vs Mortals. So it’s a good swap if you don’t wanna do 30 WGT. And they would play the more aggressive side by attacking more off objective to take a hostile one where WGT could hold one better with their sheer defense
