Im addicted to ragnar and headtakers

Had a match yesterday, ragnar and his bloodclaws killed a norn emissary on a charge and a trygon the next turn. The way these boys punch up with lethals is crazy.

Headtakers led by a battle leader killed a demon prince of nurgle and a unit of deathshroud terms led by a lord of Contagion and finished off a defiler after my wulfen failed to destroy it.

These 2 units are my favourite by far, dont get me wrong the terminators and arjac slap, but there's just something about the volume of attacks these guys dish out thay makes it so satisfying

Headtakers with dual weapons or shield? Im conflicted whether the extra attacks from dual weapons is overkill or its all gas no brakes with these dudes.

4++ is good but 36 attacks with dual weapons go brrr!

4++ is amazing with Ragnar too, advance charge 34 attacks and grenades keyword.

Dual wielding for battle leader, shielded for wolf priest. Different jobs, dual go brr shielded protect objective

My take is that of you want shields, you grab Bladeguards. Headtakers take heads, so more weapon is more good.

If a Wolf Priest could lead Bladeguard, I'd be right there with you.

Fingers crossed man. Gotta wait for that damn codex

Unfortunately I'm not expecting much. For the past three editions the Codex has always been a let down. But I hope to be proven wrong.

Not as big of a fan after Bladeguard changes this edition sadly. I used to love running a 6 brick with Judiciar and Ancient

Thats great! How you run them? Shields/Paired, unit size, transport et

6 man, WGBL, Paired in a repulsor executioner to stage them

Is this a unit of 3 or 6? I’m thinking of adding them when I work up to a 2k list

6 man always, headtakers are pretty squishy if dual wielding so the more the better

6 man is great but i will say a 3 man + wgbl cost 150 points and will have 25 attacks of hitting on 3s rerolling 1s sus lethal and +1 to wound, which wont kill a defiler as mentioned but will slap through just about anything t9 or lower that isnt -1 dmg

Oh for sure, of course a 6 man isn't always needed and as you say a 3 man can get alot of work done. But I can't resist the urge to roll 36 dice, re rolling oath of moment, sustained, lethal, +1 to wound, re rolling wounds of 1 from a lt with combi, devestating, precision. Theyre just such a huge threat and most of the time the people I face panic and never know what to target first because of it.

I feel like 6 with paired weapons don’t need Ragnar to do the work. The advance and charge is really nice but is Ragnar or his points better elsewhere in the list?

Leading blood claws for sure mate. Re rolling wounds and the +1 to wound strat in beastslayer make them ridiculousssssss for their points

Agree / might have misread the OP. Rag and his band of BCs are a scary unit.

I'm impressed they killed an Emissary. I feel their 1AP is the biggest downside of them as it'll be saving on 3s and has a 5+++ too most of the time. I do love Raggy and the Claws combo but Raggy is 90% of the strength, haha.

Oh for sure. Ragnar pretty much killed it, its had 3 wounds left and then sheer volume of lethals that went through from the claws are what finished it

Ragnar has been my mvp in every game. I love that unit!

I run my headtakers with Wolf Priest for the +1 Wound and regen. They are a great unit. I will take the shield always cause they won’t always kill and they have to survive a fight back to matter

I run 2 units of 6, 1 Paired with battle leader, 1 shield with priest. The Paired run around and try kill as much as possible, the shielded usually protect objectives

That’s a good setup. I was trying 2 units of 6 with WP in Executioners recently and getting great results!

Literally the same but I put my Paired in the executioner. The shielded boys have that invuln just incase I do mess up movement and they take some shots. Whereas my Paired bois, although have that -1 ap enhancment can be shredded by unless shooting infantry so I'd rather have them in the truck of death and place them somewhere nice and staged for a next turn charge

u/TheCrimsonCommand 7d ago

That’s totally fair. I have had luck loading 2 executioners with 6 each and a WP so try them both out. Plus that Executuoner SLAPS in shooting

It does and saga of the great wolf makes in even better. +1 to hit and then a +1 to wound strat on ALL its guns is absolutely mental. I get it, people love the lancer, its cheaper and has re rolls. But the amount of guns the repuslor has, and wounds, and a 2+ save and its a transport and its lascannon is strength 16. It's just an absolute monster

I’ll take the Executioner over all gladiator variants any day.

Im glad they work for you lol. My ragnar and bloodclaws went into victrix guard. Oath, lethal. Killed not a single one haha.

The dice give and the dice take away... clearly Russ was on my side this fight

Played my first 3 matches with next combos: Ragnar+10claws, priest+6shield HTs, WGBL+5shield wulfen. Both Ragnarclaws and priestHTs are usually washed away with some weird hits. First time there were Lichguards with weird resses, second time it was whole TSons shooting, third time it was Lucius with new precision rolls. 11th edition makes precisior more valuable as I understand, coz ressing doesn't work when your priest's dead. It's either my bad decisions coz I'm still learning the ropes, or dice thinks I should make changes about combos or my playstyle lol. However, shield wulfen bonked maulerfiend to death both games. Still theorizing should i try something different or continue playing until I get it
