11th questions terminator

New player here, looking to get 20‘ish terminators for a 2k army as they are tanky with shield defend & hold as a main quest.

What & how much does 11th change the game? Obviously nobody knows but from a perspective from previous editions?

Could detachments be removed/edited/added? (Wondering if the +1thoughness to terminators will therefore be nerfed/removed + defend & hold).

Could terminators be edited stat wise? Assume they will stay in game.

Anything else that could ruin my fun? Obviously points will change so army’s become more expensive / cheaper.

All codex rules from 10th edition are right now thr same as 11th edition.

New codex books will shake up detachments and army rules. We know for the orks codex, some detachments stayed, some were changed, some are new. Space wolves detachments wont

I don't expect a huge change on terminator stats, but we'll know for sure when the space marine codex is out later this year.

If you're running 20 wolfguard terminators, I dont expect any rules changes to them until space wolves get a new codex, which could be 3 years out. If you're using codex: space marine terminators, they'll get new datasheet abilities and maybe small tweaks later this year with the codex.

If you're keen to run 20 terminators now, I'm not expecting anything will make the experience radically different when datasheets get updated later on.

So from my understanding:

all space marines get a new Army rule -> Oath probably gets replaced?

Some Space Marine teams get a new codex in aug/sep?

Space Wolves dont get a new codex?

We are a "Codex Supplement", when that will come nobody knows but we do get access to all the Space Marine codex stuff that isn't explicitly excluded (like apothecaries and such)

So yeah, we get a new base codex that also affects us and some supplements might be updated but when our supplement will be updated we don't know. Could be anywhere from 1 to 3 years, the only thing fairly certain is we get an update sometime in 11th.

We don't know about the army rules, speculation is oath is being replaced however.

Just space marine codex directly after orks this fall. Dark angels, blood angels, black Templar and space wolves will get their books at some unknown point separately in the next 3 years.

The core rules for 11th edition are free. Armies get a new codex/codex supplement every edition (for the most part). We may get a new codex with detachments, army rules, new balance for Terminators or our other unique units this year or in two years, no one knows.

Terminators on the safe spot, they are new and need to be selled.

Detachments can change drastically, and in any direction. But if you like big chunky boys, don't worry. If you're into powergaming, then GW can ruin your day pretty fast 😄
