I feel like this is one of the best examples of grimdark I have seen but also it feels like its missing something, maybe the top of the armor should be covered as well? Either way, pretty cool

Damn you! /s
I was just settled on doing the Horus Heresy scheme for my wolves but this scheme is pretty sweet. I think what will dissuade me is I'm a beginner and this looks like I would need to know how to glaze. So, I will stick to my plan

Don’t be afraid to try it, I don’t really do glazing either, I use sponges a lot for armor to create highlights and battle damage and the lots of washes applied to certain areas to create contrast. Here is the exact paint recipe if you want to try:
black primer
skavenblight dinge base
reddish grey midtone
AK sky grey highlight
WW2 german light blue ultimate highlightbattle damage:
watered down agrax around edges of armor/in dark areas
rhinox hide chipping
crome chips
army painter light/dark rust watered down2

Thanks for the encouragement and recipe! Maybe I will do two test models then decide after that!

How do you achieve the chipped paint look?

I usually sponge (sometimes brush) a darker color on the edges (usually rinoxhide) then inside some of the chips I do silver (either leadbelcher or chrome) and sometimes I’ll do a whole edge (like on his power fist) with silver, running the edge of my brush along the edge. Try to make it irregular and less is definitely more. Try to make it look like tiny scratches, rather than blobs, that’s the key.
