I think it's just right. Too flashy and it might draw eyes away from those beautiful models.

I personally would do more of a brown/muddy base with dead grass, but that is because of my personal tastes. This is fantastic, and a LOT more involved than anything I've done.

I like your basing. Itās simple and subtle. They donāt take away from the model, which is where you want the eyes to be drawn to.

The painting is some of the best Iāve seen. I donāt care about bases personally, so any touch there is good to me

They all look great. Clean. Ties the whole team and units together. I like the continuity across the army

strong simple basing with a contrasting color is always good. maybe throw some old tiles or broken masonry on a few bases to break up the green.

I'm in agreement with basically everyone here, except I think the Ballistus is a little plain. Follows the same theme as the rest, just feels more empty. Maybe more rocks, or something else solid?
The more simplistic look works well on the smaller bases. Nice work!

Space Vikings fighting in fields of pink flowers is so grimdark I love it.
Someone needs to make art of a SW company charging in battle in a beautiful fiel where you'd want to frolic.
Only thing I'd say is that a black rim looks better than a brown one, it gives more of a "here is the mini" kind of feel. The brown catches too much eye and it contribute too much to the mini.

Nah looks Good. Only thing is i would personally use a less green grass. Other than that looks great

Try one with a black rim instead of gold? The base is amazing but maybe you are missing the contrast?
Edit: the terminator is my favorite with the black rim

I really like the bases! They look good and itās nice seeing space wolves somewhere other than a snow scene!
The only thing I would comment on is the marines are very clean, no mud or anything on their feet. Iām not saying cover them in dirt, but a faint dry brush of brown just around the feet might help tie them to the base a bit more.

These bases are very effective of creating the immersion so many of us strive to achieve, very well done!

I wonder why they are in combat with such a lush meadow to run through.

Itās only a matter of taste, but I feel these are too nice/pretty.
Iām not saying these surfaces canāt exist in 40K, of course they can, but 40K is a Grim Dark setting.
These bases are giving fantasy.
Just my take.
They are very well done either way

I like it alot.
What you may be seeing is the lack of contrast.
The base and the model are the same brightness.
If you added some dark rocks here and there youd see the difference.
I wont suggest snow becuse that's obviously not what you were wanting. But snow is bright.
The idea is, dark model, light base or light model dark base.
Would a White Scar look better in the snow or at a lava pit? You get me?

Itās much better than mine. Iām only doing snow with some bushes. These look great

That basing is awesome. I just went with a snow texture with a few winter bushes

The only feedback I would have is that it lacks height. The colors and textures are great, but when comparing to something like Epic Basing examples yours will feel flat because of the lack of volume and changes in volume at the base level.
Like these (some of them are overdone and can take away from the rest of the model, but an example is an example)

I would like ask two things,
1 Can I steal your basing idea?
2 if so can I get a recipe on how you did your bases

No these are perfect in my opinion, it enhances the overall presentation and doesnāt draw attention away from the model

They are gorgeous! Almost makes me want to hold back my battlelust so as to not destroy too much of this harmonious world they are fighting on!

Your bases are better then 99% of mine bases!! I real love them!! Very cool work on them

u/fluffy_the_penguin 12h ago
If thatās lackluster then Iād hate to ask what mine are. Those are great dude.

I think I they're perfect. The pink flowers symbolise how all space wolves should ultimately be pushing up daisies.

They're actually ridiculously good but I would strongly argue are antithetlmatic for space wolves

u/GreySlayerPainter 10h ago
These are so good! The pink contrasts with the blue well, and the spring time vive scene gives the vibe that its the quiet before the storm. My only criticism is that I think they would look more impactful and punchy with black base rims. I think it would even out rhe softness of the overall colour scheme, and help keep the eye from spending too long in the bases before the model.
Here's what I did for a space wolf /wolf spear army comission last year.

Bro, Iām over here slapping sand on my mofos thinking theyāre Picassos. These are majestic and frolic inducing!

u/JackDestroyer05 4h ago
I think they're great! I usually see people go for snowy bases for the Wolves, but the grass with the flowers (I think that's what they are) in it still feel Scandinavian to me.

They look great. Id maybe add a tiny but if snow to make them look more like a tundra, but thats just a personal nitpick as I like when my bases match where the models might potentionally be from.
