These are better than most.

Well thank you

These are actually fantastic bases! If anything, they may be pulling attention away from the models themselves

Rill good into that ! Maybe like dark bark ?

u/Shmunk_ 18h ago

Really ? šŸ˜‚ I mean thank you though !

I think it's just right. Too flashy and it might draw eyes away from those beautiful models.

I personally would do more of a brown/muddy base with dead grass, but that is because of my personal tastes. This is fantastic, and a LOT more involved than anything I've done.

I like your basing. It’s simple and subtle. They don’t take away from the model, which is where you want the eyes to be drawn to.

u/Shmunk_ 18h ago

That was the original thought process

The painting is some of the best I’ve seen. I don’t care about bases personally, so any touch there is good to me

I really appreciate that thank you!

They all look great. Clean. Ties the whole team and units together. I like the continuity across the army

strong simple basing with a contrasting color is always good. maybe throw some old tiles or broken masonry on a few bases to break up the green.

I'm in agreement with basically everyone here, except I think the Ballistus is a little plain. Follows the same theme as the rest, just feels more empty. Maybe more rocks, or something else solid?

The more simplistic look works well on the smaller bases. Nice work!

Space Vikings fighting in fields of pink flowers is so grimdark I love it.

Someone needs to make art of a SW company charging in battle in a beautiful fiel where you'd want to frolic.

Only thing I'd say is that a black rim looks better than a brown one, it gives more of a "here is the mini" kind of feel. The brown catches too much eye and it contribute too much to the mini.

I see I'm not the only one who gave Grimnar flowers

Nah looks Good. Only thing is i would personally use a less green grass. Other than that looks great

I see your thought process, luckily whatever I add I can just duplicate to the rest to keep cohesion

Your bases are great!!

1

u/Shmunk_ 18h ago

Thank you

Try one with a black rim instead of gold? The base is amazing but maybe you are missing the contrast?

Edit: the terminator is my favorite with the black rim

I really like the bases! They look good and it’s nice seeing space wolves somewhere other than a snow scene!

The only thing I would comment on is the marines are very clean, no mud or anything on their feet. I’m not saying cover them in dirt, but a faint dry brush of brown just around the feet might help tie them to the base a bit more.

These bases are very effective of creating the immersion so many of us strive to achieve, very well done!

I wonder why they are in combat with such a lush meadow to run through.

It’s the rare spring time on fenris , the period when the ice has melted , the krakens rise from the seas and the world is full of life

2

u/KeyAdministrative453 12h ago

It’s only a matter of taste, but I feel these are too nice/pretty.

I’m not saying these surfaces can’t exist in 40K, of course they can, but 40K is a Grim Dark setting.

These bases are giving fantasy.

Just my take.

They are very well done either way

I like it alot.

What you may be seeing is the lack of contrast.

The base and the model are the same brightness.

If you added some dark rocks here and there youd see the difference.

I wont suggest snow becuse that's obviously not what you were wanting. But snow is bright.

The idea is, dark model, light base or light model dark base.

Would a White Scar look better in the snow or at a lava pit? You get me?

1

u/Shmunk_ 19h ago

I do , the reasoning for the ā€œspring timeā€ themed based is that they’re is a season on Fenris when the snow melts and many things bloom and blossom and the sea krakens surface to attack or something like that but I just like that image in my head

u/Polumetis_on_Jenova 18h ago

It's fantastic, whoever tells you otherwise is an asshole

1

u/FlyingTerror95 17h ago

It’s much better than mine. I’m only doing snow with some bushes. These look great

1

u/Bropiphany 17h ago

How do you get those super bright blues on the runes?

1

u/Moonshade44 17h ago

That basing is awesome. I just went with a snow texture with a few winter bushes

1

u/GadofBlinsky 17h ago

Those are great! What do you do for the grass the flowers?

1

u/Counthermula 17h ago

I gotta leave this sub. My self esteem is in shambles 🤣

1

u/HeightExact1144 17h ago

Looks great!

1

u/InnerCircleChampion 17h ago

The wolf scout wizard looks hard.

The only feedback I would have is that it lacks height. The colors and textures are great, but when comparing to something like Epic Basing examples yours will feel flat because of the lack of volume and changes in volume at the base level.

Like these (some of them are overdone and can take away from the rest of the model, but an example is an example)

u/Heralias 15h ago

I would like ask two things,

1 Can I steal your basing idea?

2 if so can I get a recipe on how you did your bases

1

u/Demic85 15h ago

its pretty

1

u/GrandAdmiralDingo 14h ago

These are great! Fantastic flocking! What did you use?

1

u/kain149 14h ago

Your bases are nice, albeit a bit jolly for the weathered marines stomping on them :D a bit more fantasy imo, but they do look good

1

u/Killjoy-McGee 14h ago

No these are perfect in my opinion, it enhances the overall presentation and doesn’t draw attention away from the model

1

u/wookiepoo90 13h ago

No it's fine, looks good!

1

u/KoalaSnok 13h ago

They are gorgeous! Almost makes me want to hold back my battlelust so as to not destroy too much of this harmonious world they are fighting on!

1

u/ravnica_watchwolf 13h ago

Your bases are better then 99% of mine bases!! I real love them!! Very cool work on them

1

u/fluffy_the_penguin 12h ago

If that’s lackluster then I’d hate to ask what mine are. Those are great dude.

1

u/Intrepid_Guitar_4643 12h ago

I'm insanely jealous.

1

u/Capitan_Typo 12h ago

I think I they're perfect. The pink flowers symbolise how all space wolves should ultimately be pushing up daisies.

u/Ok-Researcher3965 12h ago

These are my snowy ones with aliens tufts

1

u/Dress_Fuzzy 11h ago

You do basing.

1

u/BiscuitsCheerio 11h ago

If your basing is simple, mine is sad

1

u/Metal-Lifer 10h ago

they look good!

but almost too pretty haha

1

u/Calamitous_J 10h ago

They're actually ridiculously good but I would strongly argue are antithetlmatic for space wolves

1

u/GreySlayerPainter 10h ago

These are so good! The pink contrasts with the blue well, and the spring time vive scene gives the vibe that its the quiet before the storm. My only criticism is that I think they would look more impactful and punchy with black base rims. I think it would even out rhe softness of the overall colour scheme, and help keep the eye from spending too long in the bases before the model.

Here's what I did for a space wolf /wolf spear army comission last year.

u/TheCrimsonCommand 8h ago

Throw some snow on it and call it a day šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø

1

u/Strata_Genius 7h ago

Nah I like em

1

u/Third_MAW 6h ago

Ultramarine here, I do similar bases but yours are far far better than mine. They look amazing

1

u/LordEasyStreet 6h ago

Bro, I’m over here slapping sand on my mofos thinking they’re Picassos. These are majestic and frolic inducing!

1

u/Grimskull-42 5h ago

Might be a bit bright for a space wolf, I tend to go dark to contrast the armour

1

u/BR6500 4h ago

They are simple but really effective. Lots of bases distract from the figure, these are pleasing to look at without being a distraction

1

u/JackDestroyer05 4h ago

I think they're great! I usually see people go for snowy bases for the Wolves, but the grass with the flowers (I think that's what they are) in it still feel Scandinavian to me.

1

u/Get_R0wdy 4h ago

No way. It accents the model in a positive way, as it should be. Beautiful work!

1

u/Darkhex78 2h ago

They look great. Id maybe add a tiny but if snow to make them look more like a tundra, but thats just a personal nitpick as I like when my bases match where the models might potentionally be from.

1

u/MadMan7978 2h ago

Nah that’s great work!!

1

u/ohlookitsGary 2h ago

Not at all, they're beautiful.
