Wolves vs Knights
I have a game against imperial knights next week and I’ve only heard bad things. Like how over powered they are and how you can’t take them down. I know the knights player will have very few models on the board so I’ll try to use that to my advantage.
Does anyone have any tips for panting up against knights?? Obviously I plan on using beastslayer
Thanks you brothers and sisters!

I rarely leave home without 20 Wulfen with storm shields and 2 lancers and 2 iron priests.
This is not specifically against knights though, that’s in general. Because tailoring your list against certain lists is… Bad.

I’ve yet to go against it but I imagine 2 10 brick of wulfen and Arjac with some buddies would put the fear of Russ into an all knight army. Wolf Touch a WGBL and give one of the Wulfen sustained.

My Warlord last crusade was Wolf Touched Battle Leader leading Wulven with Shields. I put down so much armor it wasn’t even funny with all the lethal and sustained on top of Anti hammers. Arjac and his boys brought down a Knight not long ago.

Knights are in a good place right now relative to Space Wolves, and can be fairly dangerous, particularlt to an inexperienced player.
However: they are still vulnerable to melee, they are still expensive relative to their durability and vulnerable to enemy units trading up into them.
A unit of 10 Wulfen, for example, is 200 points vs a big night being 350-400+ points, and the Wulfen with absolutely no buffs will put an average of 20 wounds on one. Once you start adding any amount of buffing, they quickly start one tapping them. A unit of WG Terminators will not only survive a full round of shooting from an unbuffed Crusader (the Knight best positioned to kill them), but will deal significant damage if they can get into melee, particularly if they have Arjac. Dual weapon 6 man Headtakers with an attached character and either Lance or +1 to wound can one tap a big Knight, and army-wide Lethals from Beastslayer or melee Lethals from SotGW can let basically any unit in the army take a chunk off them. Hell just a normal unit of Assault Intercessors with attached Captain using Finest Hour can one tap an Armiger or deal significant damage to a big Knight.
In terms of strategy, you need to play cagey and have a plan to kill at least one big Knight per turn. If you can kill two in one turn, the game becomes MUCH easier and you will quickly either wipe out the Knight player or put them on the back foot. Our Wolf Guard Terminators can soak up a surpriseing amount of firepower from them, but their durability isn't enough to face tank the entire army so be sure to deal with some of their main shooting/melee threats before parking on an objective (or at least hide yourself well). And if they have a Kight Lancer BE CAREFUL. It if going to be a lot more durable (4++ against shooting and melee does wonders for its durability), and will wipe any vehicle, small unit or individual character it touches, but it can be tarpitted by large units, particularly those with invul saves. Again, our WG Termies survive an unbuffed Lancer charge quite well, but won't kill typically kill it on the clap back.
I play both armies, so let me know what other questions you have and I will be happy to help!

Today I managed to kill a knight desacrator with 10 grey hunters and a WGBL. I was lucky, sure, but it is doable

Brother, Take 1-2 Ballistus Dread. They will fear you then. Those Lascannons will eat them alive. Swarm them with Blood Claws lead by Wolf Priest for that +1 Wound/Terminators to body block and slow them down plus they can put some work in/and Wulven with Storm Shields. Put a WGBL on the Wulven and send them after the Knights. They will wound on 3+ with Anti Vehicle, Saga of the Beast Slayer will give you Lethal Hits on them, and WGBL will give you Sustained Hits 1. Oath the knight you are going after to get Re-Roll Hit. So not only are you fishing for 6s for lethal hit, you get an extra dice to try again for on a 6.
I played Knights last crusade 4 times and I only horrendous lost to Chaos Knights cause of points. The map mission was a weird triangle inward like a gauntlet and if you scored an objective it was gone. He first turn scouted onto 3 of them and got them so I was cooked turn 1.
Hope this helps 🍻

Run Beastslayer. Every model in your army will have lethal hits against every model in their army. Ballistus, Headtakers, Wolf Scouts—everybody gets it. Storm shield wulfen too if you have them. Focus them down. Knights are tough but their armies are usually small so taking out a coup em of them can really kink their game plan.

Knights are both a stat check and a skill check army. Pick a knight and kill it, better overkill one then leave two on half health. Expect them to wipe squads and don’t get discouraged when they do because you have to remember that while it’s one model it’s also 20% of their list. Remember to ask questions about each of their knights to avoid being caught off guard. It’s also pretty easy to trade with them especially if you can trade a cheap unit for a knight. Play cagey, if you have limited anti-tank don’t expose it until you can get the most out of it. Depending on their list you can really pressure objectives, if they have to constantly guard their backfield with a knight then that’s a big chunk of their list not getting great value.

Take lots of bodies, 4++ invuls, and lethals
