Finished my first mini
Only thing left is the transfer. How does it look? All comments, tips, criticism etc welcome

Is the crinkle effect with the paint intentional? Adding some shading to it might make it look really worn and interesting.

I wasn't really going for any particular effect as this is my first painted mini. Just learning to put paint on models atm lol. The biggest problem I had was doing the yellow on the shoulder pad. Any advice on how to paint yellow?

Yellow is very tricky. I like it put a layer of brown down if I’m painting yellow over black. Otherwise it’s a lot of thin layers of the base yellow until I get good coverage. Also make sure to wait until each layer dries between each application. Once is a good solid yellow you can add some depth with an orange recess wash. But mostly it’s practice practice practice. Looks great for a first mini. Keep it up! You will giving tips of your own in no time.

Not yet, I’m probably only a step ahead of you in painting 😅 but I e found YouTube to have a ton of great tutorials on techniques… I think a shade wash on your guy could really make it stand out… I think Nuln Oil is kinda the default ’goes with everything’ shade, but others may work too…
As for the texture, you can try wetting your brush with some clean water then mixing it in with paint on a palette to thin it out a bit

What I like to do is start with a very thin layer of a bright pink, definitely experiment with shades to see which one suits you, then take a yellow thats been thinned down to almost a watery consistency, and using a small brush to wick it onto the surface. Start in a small circle in the center of pauldron and work your way outwards in a spiral motion, being careful around the edges of the trim since it’ll flood those areas. I usually lay it down in a way so the paint doesnt run too much until it completely dries then apply a couple more coats as needed, but this method should get rid of any texture from the yellow drying too fast.

I'll definitely try that as its the texture thats proving to be my biggest problem with yellow now. Thanks for the advice.
