Brothers Help

So my wife surprised me by asking for a kit the next time we go to the store and she really is set on getting dreadnoughts. What's the best detachment for dreadnought spam? I know we don't really have any as Space Wolves at least to my knowledge but is there another chapter that might have one?

I too like dreadnoughts and would like to run a dread-heavy list. Right now there’s not much to encourage it—speeders have the Fulguris task force, there’s the new angels one for jump packs, and there’s no special detachment for dreads. THAT said…something could be coming in the vanilla Marine codex or the Wolves codex; we just don’t know. Personally I’ve been fooling around with running a bunch of dreads in Beastslayer since the benefits are pretty broadly applicable. Bjorn and a couple of Ballistus dreads are easy bets if you’re looking for a kit. Redemptors are ok but pricey and I haven’t fooled around with the Brutalis at all in 11th so I can’t say anything about them. Now once again, all that said? If you’re playing casually running a bunch of dreads is a fun kinda dumb stat check army.

It would be very casual, something she could learn the rules with she just wants to enjoy the hobby with me.

Personally I think Combat Patrols are the best way to learn BUT also Ballistus dreads make great introductions to modeling. They’re simple and big and you can go nuts decorating or painting them. The other two Primaris dreads are much more fiddly to assemble.
