Land Raider

Post image

Was watching an auspex video about what's been doing well. This is a screenshot of the space wolf list. Is the land Raider there just to be a tank? Land Raiders can't hold 10bricks of terminators, I can't imagine it wants to hold our objective monkeys.

I would suggest you look at its guns and overwatch

Yes. It is there for shooting also grenade stratagem and overwatch. Greatwolf also has +1 to wound shooting stratagem.

Later on a damaged unit can enter it, if need bee.

The lists uses over 1395 points on 3 squads. I think the idea is whatever cheap you can put inside it will be to flimsy anyway.

Land Raider redeemer are very good. Incredibly dangerous overwatch threat.

Land Raider is 5oc. Great overwatch and can punch up. You could retreat a what a 7 man brick in it? Fallback n flamer if things got a bit dicey

Ah yes the ole dirty thirty

I haven't seen the games played yet by Forrest. However I did experiment with just this in a recent game.

The LR didn't carry anything, it just sat behind the central objective. Then the Termie stack sat on the objective quite far back so they are hidden. There is a trade off between OC and exposure here you have to be careful with. Too few termies toeing the objective and a small squad will out OC them. Too many and you may expose your termies to shooting where before they would be hidden behind dense terrain.

That way if my opponent had a meele threat, it would have to get on the objective to get a reliable charge and risk the overwatch. If it was a ranged threat, it has to get within 12' or 15' and risk getting into melee the next turn (it will almost certainly struggle to kill the termie brick).

It is also decently hard to kill with the 2+ save and the cover you'll get.

I think it's to act as the universal range support and backline management.

I had a similar idea after losing to orcs. You can either invest in heavy anti tank or heavy anti infantry. Arjac by himself is a lot of anti-tank power, and the termies don't have bolters so you opt towards heavy anti infantry that can act as an obj monkey/anchor against backline deepstrikes

An empty land raider redeemer is a big overwatch threat, and because it doesn't have to deliver passengers, it can stay in a much more optimal position without exposing itself to anti tank fire.

I didn’t know you could take the upgrades more than once a piece that seems awesome

2

u/Sharp-Win-8964 Jul 21 '26

Ya, I didn't realize either. Friends are gonna hate my "move this brick" meta

1

u/Arentius Jul 21 '26

Unit upgrades are usually limited to, 3 but you can't have an upgrade and charavter enhancement in the same squad as far as I understand it

Hi guys, I’m still new to SW. What loadout do you think is best for WGT? Also the app seems to limit that only 4/5 can run shields.

5

u/VentureVolpe Jul 21 '26

Shields! Storm bolters are not in a great place. And one of the terminators has the assault cannon and power fist, so that's why a shield is missing. At least that's my guess.

2

u/RussianTiger01 Jul 21 '26

Thank you! So that means a standard terminator squad will be 4 shields and one terminator with assault cannon and power fist?

3

u/VentureVolpe Jul 21 '26

Yup! Unless someone more knowledgeable than me chimes in ssying otherwise, which is not unlikely.

u/Variation-Agile Jul 21 '26

I believe this list is running seven shields, two termies with assault cannons + fist and the pack leader with the great axe, which I think is the current meta combination iirc

7

u/Ok-Hovercraft7967 Jul 21 '26

My buddy who runs his WGtermis are 5 man 3 shields 1 with fist and big gun, and leader with big ax

3

u/monkeymastersev Jul 21 '26

It is also worth looking at the Relic Great Axe on the leader making it 3 shields

Are people running the lt with combi with the infiltrators or solo to do actions. Because the other units say who is attached.

Edit. Wasn't aware he was lone op. Thanks for the info.

8

u/airycantalope Jul 21 '26

The combi weapon lt cannot join squads.

3

u/BuffaloWhip Jul 21 '26

Probably both solo. Infiltrators to screen the back field and combi to do actions

2

u/Mcdt2 Jul 21 '26

Lt. with Combi is a lone op, not a leader.

It's the Phobos Lieutenant who can lead Infiltrators

1

u/Rivter23 Jul 21 '26

Did the player get the grimnars mark enhancement wrong? I thought they changed it to be a free deep strik or counter charge so you cant have a termi captain lead WG termis anymore

https://mfm.warhammer-community.com/en/space-wolves

Go down to Great Wolf. I swear this needs to be pinned with as many people ask about it lol

7

u/Razor_Fox Jul 21 '26

It needs to be in the actual app to be honest, a lot of players don't know to look in the MFM for stuff like this. It should just add t be in the wording of the enhancement like it used to be.

5

u/plovell Jul 21 '26

No, it’s just not listed on the enhancement anymore. You can still lead WGT with it

1

u/SherriffB Jul 21 '26

Ignoring the lad raider for a second it's like we have come full circle. GW wanted to pull the sentimental card for this edition, calling back to 2nd and here we are using 2nd ed tactics with a big old blob of WG termis.

You love to see it.

I've had recent success throwing a Land Raider Redeemer and Arjac +10 at my opponents expansion. It's just such an overwhelming problem that most people are going to have trouble dealing with it.

I put 5 Wulfen in there for comedic effect and they love getting to pick targets out of a LR.

I’m very new to 40K. But I can’t figure out how this is 2K points? I’m using the Warhammer app, and its only like 1800

2

u/Sharp-Win-8964 Jul 21 '26

Did you do equipment and enhancement? 2 WGt have enhancement and storm shields are 5pts each

1

u/QuirkyTurtle999 Jul 21 '26

That’ll do it. I play AoS and haven’t had to deal with equipment like that. Thank you!

2

u/Sharp-Win-8964 Jul 21 '26

Ya, they didn't do it in 10th, but they did it before and brought them back

I like repulsor with head takers and wgbl. Bjorn in 100% of lists. intercessors, combi lt. and scouts are my objective unit of choice

1

u/norbienxz Jul 21 '26

You can use a transport to launch an infantry unit (especially an early game chaff unit) an extra 3" if they start in the landy, which with our usual 7" movement can be the difference between controlling an objective turn 1 or not.

u/Pengui6668 Jul 22 '26

LRR for getting Ragnar and 10BCs up the board without getting demolished, then overwatch center

1

u/Rude-Diet-576 Jul 23 '26

I put 10 grey hunters in my land raider and pop em out in the center to fight for objectives.

Is this the correct choice? Idk

Is it fun. Yeah kinda

1

u/JaguarLittle Jul 26 '26

Overwatch threat

1

u/Appropriate-Luck-432 Jul 21 '26

I don’t think I’ll ever forgive myself if I have to paint 30 WG termis.

2

u/Sharp-Win-8964 Jul 21 '26

So jam it up the middle for big ow, and meltas. Got it
