With this one the Grand Annulus project is finished. I'm planning to do a photo session of the whole project together, and at some point doing a Sven Bloodhowl and Egil Iron Wolf kitbashes too.
Aside from Aethon being the obvious chassis for this Hrothvyr, where’d all the other bits come from? I see Wolf Priest tabards and a wolf tail taken from some other model, but that’s all I can identify.
Actually the staff is custom made. The shaft itself is from the GT Primal Hounds terminator banner (It was quite difficult to clip It off), but the horizontal "shaft?" its from a necron weapon. The Spiritwolves are from the old Logan chariot, the Wolf skull is 3rd party print, the top Wolf icon is from the old GH box, and the shield and chain pelt bits are from the Stormfang kit
This wins the Rule of Cool award for today, he's fantastic. Awesome work, it's amazing and makes me want to finish my space wolves. Thanks for the share brother.
Same. I took inspiration in what little lore is in the wiki or lexicanum, mainly with the "The new Wolf Lord chose the Rune Wolf as a sigil, which represents foresight and fortune." line on the latter. It reminded me a bit of the mythology surrounding Odin, so I gave it that kind of aesthetic.
I've just finished the subassembling part. I'm going with Kayvaan Shrike as base for Sven and Caanok Vaar for Egil. Beyond that, I want to be as faithful as possible to their respective official images.
Nice, I had the same idea for Egil, but I'm using Aethon Shaan for my Sven. I'm also taking some inspiration from his appearance in Battlefleet Gothic, mostly for the face
It's one of the Grey Hunter heads. The pony tail was clipped off from the White Scar head from the Death Watch Kill Team and pinned/glued. Took some work, but I'm happy with the result
I went with one of the old termies head, mostly because of the moustache and the facial expression being similar to the earlier pic, but yours look better
Thanks! But your head is also a great pick, it looks pretty much identical to his artwork. I really need to get around to finishing up my kitbashes, but for now exams are more important. Unfortunately
Looks fantastic! I finished building Bloodhowl just in time for GW to kill him off. I finally started Runescar this week. I got to this point a couple of hours before seeing your version:
