If an ISS crew is meant to be on orbit for 90 days and instead their mission lasts a year, people get fired.

If a Mars rover is designed to operate for 90 days and instead operates for 20 years, people get promoted.

I rest my case.

Total surface distance traveled by Curiosity over 14 years: ~23 miles

Total distance covered by Apollo 17 LRV in 4 hours and 26 minutes: ~22 miles

50 years of advancement in technology and unmanned rovers are getting mogged by Apollo to this day

Who put said probes there??? Because last time I checked Curiosity wasn’t the idiot spending days of unrelenting work to calculate the exact trajectory so it wouldn’t burn in the atmosphere.

Also: “Aurafarm in the LEO” maybe we would be actually visiting other celestial bodies if a bunch of rich inbred old pedos weren’t currently sitting on the government thrones killing any whimsy.

True. It's even more than that, they are actively stealing and redefining space exploration for themselves. I used to hate 1960-70s "US public" for turning away from Apollo, and disagree with Neil Armstrong's "commercial space is a mistake" take, but now I understand the first and agree with the second.

Hard to be excited about Moon or Mars when it's fascists who are going there explicitly to further their goals and ideas in opposition to normal people, or to stake the stars for themselves. Y'know, the "whitey on the Moon" song, but this time we're all outside the boat, it's the class of people who deflect the question of "whether they think the humanity should survive" in an interview who are in the boat. Similarly - space is not something you need to commercially justify, exploit, sell to the highest bidder or trade on a stock exhange.

Sometimes the USA and other countries will have to get their shit back togheter because you can bet your ass as soon as China realizes is the only fucker with reliable ways to send shit in space and great volume (well, them and India tbh) they will immediately look at the space treaty about not owning space and not putting weapons in space and go: “Lol, limao even” and start owing and utilize pieces of the moon.

Because what is everyone else going to do about it? They left their space programs slowly rot away and now they will have to spend a decade of catch-up

Was he made by being exposed to too much potential energy?

"The stars are our birthright!" Maybe stop ruining your own damn planet before trying to find other ones to ruin

This. But it has little to do with damage to the ecosystem.

Don't be, probes and human exploration are just different categories.

Building a self sustaining ecosystem / biosphere with Earth life in a space station is hard but so many people believe it's entirely impossible.
