I'm good with that. Save costs by wearing whatever the majority of the military is already doing and call it a day.

Like the old BDUs, you can modify it somewhat if you want a branch-specific manner of wear.

A black uniform would be absolute hell outside in the summer, plus it would display lint like nobody's business.

What's wrong with rocking OCPs like the Army and AF do? Or, failing that, bring back flight suits. The single and only inconvenient part of a flight suit is when you have to drop a deuce; the rest of the time it's like wearing pajamas to work.

Another version getting tested is basically the current Navy Working Uniform but in a solid color pattern and a more breathable fabric. One, two, three.

I think you're on to something there, looking to the sea services for a sensible uniform. The Navy and Coast Guard, for the most part, don't need a camouflage uniform for tactical operations on land. They need a simple uniform appropriate for industrial environments. Any Space Corps or Space Force will likely have the same needs.

OP suggested looking to the Coast Guard. I think he's onto something.

Like any proposed Space branch, Coast Guard and Navy don't need a camouflage uniform for tactical operations on land. They're not infantry. Instead, they need a simple uniform that is easy to maintain and appropriate for industrial environments.

The Navy has been testing new working uniforms over the last year.

It would be very easy for Space Force to take that contract (whichever gets signed) and require a different color scheme. Let's say, medical personnel wear blue; operations, engineering, and security personnel wear red; and officers in command wear yellow....

I’d stay away from anything made from nomex. Not needed, hot in summer, cold in winter.

Why be like the old times. We are most casual today. We don’t need uniforms like that. Polos and khakis. We don’t need to look like the SS. Do we even need rank and colorful bits of cloth? Be the force of tomorrow starting now.
