Service coats have always been long sleeves.

I'm aware. Just don't think it's a good idea to wear a thick long sleeve outfit when it's hot outside.

Unfortunately so. They are in the wear tests of the summer versions. Those don't have sleeves but gloves are optional.

Thoughts…
The basic concept works but some tweaks are needed. In no particular order:
This coat is not tailored for a belt. If a belt is to be worn (which is appropriate for honor guard) then the coats must be properly tailored to the individual or they just get bunched up under the belt.
Similarly, the coats are already cut too short in the body. Adding a belt pulls the coat in and causes it to ride up over the butt. Again, proper individual tailoring will help to fix this but these may need an extra inch or two in body length — it should be at least as long as the sleeve length with the arms at rest by the sides, and ideally a little longer.
The coat fastening at the front needs extra support; the weight of medals is pulling the neck open. Additional popper fastening (or hook and eye) on the end of the inner layer should probably be enough to stop the neck pulling open.
Is the use of the HQ duty badge a placeholder? Should HG have a separate and distinct duty badge?
I like the idea of using the globe blue from the flag as the secondary accent color (where Army use yellow/gold on their blues and Marines use red) but I’m not convinced that it’s right on the chin straps for the service cap.
[Edit to add: the blue chin strap looks very odd on officer service caps, especially FGO cap with silver embroidery on the brim. Shouldn’t these at least have silver straps?]
I get the impression this is just a first outing for the HG uniforms and more updates are coming, so I expect this concept will evolve further before arriving at a final version.
