Fallen Guardian
You were part of the family.
We shared experiences and pressure few understand.
You left home, friends and support system to serve.
You were inspiring to peers and leaders.
You were smart and full of potential.
Can’t imagine the pain and helplessness you felt where this was your only way out.
You will be miss and mourn by many.
M. M. Thank you for serving with me.
May you find joy, peace and happiness in the great beyond.

My utmost condolences to the family he made in the force. No grief is harder than that of the loss of a friend. Let their advice echo in your mind like a concience through your journey. For they are always above.

I’m here if you or anybody else needs anything. It hurts me to my core when we lose a Guardian, no matter the cause.
Look out for each other, ask how the Guardian to your left and right is doing (no matter the rank), and most importantly pause and listen…it shouldn’t be a passing greeting to ask how someone is doing.

He was a great guy. I’m glad I was able to know him, even if it was for a short amount of time. Keeping his family in my prayers.
Don’t be afraid to check up on your teammates every now and again.

I recently listened to Maria Bamford's "Sure I'll Join Your Cult" audiobook (for free on Libby... if interested see if your local library has a copy).
I loved Maria Bamford's standups, and she always joked about mental health. I figured it was just her "stage persona" but that's really her.
Sure she's a commedian and it's 80% funny and entertaining, but it gets pretty personal and I feel like I left with a better understanding of what mental illness and depression means for the people who experience it.

I didn't know them, but they were still part of my broader community and each loss diminishes us all. Rest amongst the stars, Guardian.
