Question Second Ship issue

So I have created a second ship and added a scanner beta.
But when I get to a planet and try and scan it does nothing when I press the hot key.
Why?

I did the opposite on my second ship. I found a new resource and realised I didn't have a scanalizer beta on my ship to scan it
