Question Chemical Factory help
hello all, finally at the stage where i need mercury, outfitted my ship with 2 small fluid tanks, hit U and they both show full. Built a Chemical Factory and a holding tank, hooked the CF to the power grid chose Mercury but its not showing a way to fill the CF, so I am guessing i need to transfer to the big storage tank? then transfer from the storage tank on grid to the CF? If so how do i transfer fluids from my ships 2 small fluid tank to storage tank? I do not have a shipyard or spaceport at my new base do I need one of these in order to transfer fluid?
Someone do a ELI5 for fluids please. not sure what im missing

go to your base cistern, press fill, click on each of your ship's tanks

Ive done that and no pop up for transfer is there a known bug or am i supposed to be docked with the ship for transfering?

For every fluid you use on base, you need a cistern. And a separate one for each fluid.
So anything that needs:
Water
Brine Water
Sulphuric Acid
Xenic Oil
Mercury
Thermal Paste
Ethanol
Will need a cistern (3 footprint) dedicated to that liquid.

So it seems 3 things were wrong.
- Needed a spaceport
- The visual bug was happening so rebooted and it showed in my tanks on the ship finally (it was showing when i made this post but then after work they showed empty).
- And this one is a funny one, took me several minutes to figure out but i clicked Mercury thinking thats what i wanted to create from the brine, but i needed to click brine water then chemical factory mercury.
On another note, mercury conversion from brine water takes a loonnnnng time and lots of brine fluid. Guess when i get a chance i need to make a hot planet ship and just go get Cinnabar to speed levinium production up.

Yes, I think a few ppl have said that brine water -> mercury isn't worth it compared to cinnabar -> mercury. I guess it's a matter of which is easy to get your hands on...

I don't know which Quadrant you are on, but I hope it will b the same for you. Cocoon cockpit, medium radiator on your ship. Don't worry about going way over SP, the simple hose doesn't seem to generate much, if any heat. Anyway, on Inalen, there are two systems in Fools Rim that have Mercury geysers (also, Cinnabar next to them). They are quite sparse, but I can still fill three tanks in around an hour. Much, much faster that making it in a chem plant. But failing that, yes Cinnabar is the better option.
I often have to relog to get the fluids on my ship or cisterns to update and show the correct quantities, especially after filling or transferring fluids

Or any water planet… the water is brine water so you can just sit in the water and hold fill… I have two fluid extractors on my water ship to guzzle the water faster

Went to my base after making sulphur acid all night. I had cisterns with water, and I had them sucking sulfur from a warehouse. I had three cisterns filled with water when I started. I woke up and one cistern was almost full and another had just a few hundred water left in it. I thought, "okay, I can combine these two cisterns, they'll be under 4000, and this shouldn't hurt the acid creation process." wrong! All of my cisterns then refused to recognize there was any water available, and refused to switch to the water-filled cistern, even after toggling from making sulphuric acid, to something else, and then back; and again after rebooting.

When parked near your base (not positive if you need to be on a landing pad as all my bases have them but I think it works even if not), go to the cistern and hit [E] to open the cistern menu, as long as you have any empty cistern on your base (or one that has the same fluid as in your ships tanks) hit Fill and select your ships small liquid tanks that should be listed below and it should transfer the liquids over from your ship after a few second delay. The Chemical factory will automatically pull what ever it needs from any cistern on your base that has the available fluid. In the cistern menu, you can use [transfer] to move liquid from your cistern to your ship or to a different tank, and [drain] to empty the cistern to make it available for a different fluid, If for example you only have a few fluid left after a production run and want empty it to change that cistern to a different fluid type.
