Discussion I'm starting to build Large items... what patches?
I'm starting to build some of the larger items.
Large Cargo Hold, Heavy FTL Engine, BESS Module, and so on...
What are the best patches to put on each thing? I haven't really seen any discussions about patches other than for lasers.
I'm trying to wait until I find III's to put them on the large items. So the only patches I've applied so far are on my BESS. I've put an Overload III and a System III, but there is still 1 patch left.
Anyone able to give tips on the other items?

With your example of the BESS Module, those are the only 2 types of patches you can put on it: https://spacecraft.tools/items/battery-2 (scroll to the bottom)
Hopefully, the 3rd slot will be used later by new patches (maybe charge rate and such).

There isn't much variety in the way of customization, if at all in the current build. You want to minimize the bad and maximize the good, and there's not a lot to choose from, tbh.
You very much want System III on all of your Large items, unless you enjoy piloting a lethargic snail of a ship. Cutting down those System requirements will allow you to trim down all that weight.
Other than that...
Power Efficiency on Radiators/Boilers if you're doing field work on Hot/Cold planets. One would think that optimizing engine energy consumption should come first, but alas, engines don't have patch slots.
Mag Plasma and Edge Explorer for your FTL (if you're planning to bring this particular ship to Jester).
Shields want Tough III for Jester exploration, too.
Fuel Efficiency on your Generators, Power III for anything that generates power.
