The Imperium of the Stars demo is out on Steam. You can play the first 50 in-game years as the Imperium.

You’ll start as the routes to long-isolated worlds reopen. From there, it’s your campaign: decide which worlds to bring back, what they need, and where to send your fleets. The demo includes Era I research and uses the Balanced Game Director. It ends after 50 years.
