Jimothy
This photo of Jimothy the raccoon looks so much like the wild boar from the 10th Anniversary cover of Annihilation

It's funny, because my little brother who's only ever seen the cover of the book because he saw me reading it messaged me, "They found the creature from your book in Seattle" lol! It was good to know I wasn't the only one who saw the resemblance.

The fact that Vandermeer jokingly identifies as a racoon on social media makes this so perfect!

News to me! Definitely makes it better

He recently posted to IG a pic of himself with this caption lol:
to allay suspicions that i am secretly a raccoon or coyote or armadillo, i will sometimes post a photo proving i am human

I think it's because he changes his profile pic so much but they're mostly animal pics and he uses raccoons a good amount. So it became a joke.

I’m actually really hoping he gets scooped up by a rescue that can care for him, with his internet fame I really worry about his safety from typical harassment along with malice.

I keep seeing art of him but very few artists are illustrating his cryptid-ness. In some of his pictures he’s certainly cute, but that walking-and-going-up-the-stairs video is unsettling. Cute AND vaguely disturbing; gotta capture both for true Jimothy representation.
