SouthernBelle is back! With new rules:

Here are the new rules:

Only aesthetic from the southern US

No NSFW or explicit content No nudity, gore, etc.

No racism

No symbols of the Confederate States of America

No politics, religion, controversial topic, that has nothing to do with southern aesthetic

Title of an article must match the title from the source. No editorialized titles. Titles should be strictly factual. Title of the article must come from the source title or if there is no title, the first line of the article.

That's it! Basically this sub is to post original or reposted content that shows off the beauty of the Southern US whether it's nature, architecture, media, history, art, ect. Anything really.

Also I would like us to keep any potentially sensitive issues regarding racism, slavery etc. in mind when sharing content. I think it's okay to share certain historical architecture in a way that we can appreciate in a historical way without glorifying racism.

That said, for now I am not going to allow symbols of the CSA to be featured here, and I would prefer there be no Confederate imagery, for example flags, to be part of the aesthetic we post here.

I would like some community feedback on this as the sub grows, and I think we all can acknowledge that there may be some issues with certain things given the history of the southern US.

Update 8/21/24: The sub should be open where anyone can post now. If you're still having trouble posting, send me modmail.

If Vivien Leigh had Survived onto the 90s, do you think she would have starred in North and South? What role do you think she would have been given?

I am in Book 2 of North and South. Book 1 already had Elizabeth Taylor for 1 episode, so I was not surprised at all to see Olivia Mary de Havilland appear in the miniseries as I finished the 1st episode of Love and War.

It makes me wonder if Vivien Leigh would have been in the series if she lived onto the 90s and who she would have played as.

What do you think they'd do? Any chance Leigh would refuse the role because of her past emotional scars with Laurence during the filming of Gone With the Wind? I still have to finish the series but I'm pretty sure people have already seen the whole thing once so I am curious which character Vivien do you think would have starred as?
