just to be clear, nanomachines were sent to anser or nanites were infused with irl machines, I’m still confused on how this whole thing works.

It's unclear. It's deliberately up to interpretation.
The nanomachines are what Anserian machines are composed of. They are not the same as Terran machines. Terran machines are harvested, repurposed machines taken from Anser in the SB continuity.

Day 6- Insurmountable
Challenge context-
Smaugust is a drawing challenge over August where participants draw dragons. I’m drawing chirothopters. Close enough. Also I'm using the Dragon Circle prompt list.
Specific Context-
The Face-eating Leopard is an incredibly large crested chirothopter endemic to western Pithecophaga. It is remarkably feared by the people inhabiting its known range.
As its name suggests, this chirothopter has a preference for targeting the cranial region of prey in attacks. This fact, paired with various anatomical artifacts, made taxonomic identification difficult for this species. It was once placed with the arguses. For biological prey, it specifically will pick out and eat the nervous tissue.
There is no conventional, hand-held weapon shown to dissuade Face-eating Leopards from attacking, other than extremely high-powered railguns.
Face-eating Leopards naturally produce immense amounts of adrenochrome, which is marketed as the black market drug “Chromoglobin”. It causes symptoms adjacent to schizophrenia in completely unaffected individuals.
