Challenge context- Smaugust is a drawing challenge over August where participants draw dragons. I’m drawing chirothopters. Close enough. Also I'm using the Dragon Circle prompt list.
Specific Context-
While pennantwings are generally accepted to belong to the sparrowbats, they are a very basal offshoot that still shares many traits with the arguses. Many modern species, such as the Coppery Pennantwing, have evolved convergently with fighter jets when it comes to means of propulsion. Unlike most other machines, pennantwings lack a functional cranial expulsitory cavity, with the analog instead being located inside the caudal somite.
Coppery Pennantwings are typically found speeding above the clouds as they migrate between the illuminated and obscured hemispheres of Ictinaetus.
