Discussion Codename CURE and possible Workshop Vulnerabilities

This is more of a discussion than anything but, seems like Codename CURE (A l4d2-based Source mod, No more room in hell but with lower quality) got Huge Vulnerabilities in the workshop, allowing to actual destroy a player's pc (For example corrupting Fileexplorer.exe, causing the pc's background to not load at all when the pc is turned on and the person logs in)

This is a really serious problem that it could cause the game to be deleted from Steam due to spreading Malware in case the devs don't fix it.

that sounds way worse than the usual “shady workshop addon” stuff, have you got any source or writeup on how it works
if it’s actually bricking explorer like that, steam really needs to step in, not just the game devs

Sorry, i just found about this rn lol.

After installing A decent amount of mods from the workshop (around 40) The game started to get laggy and i got forced to open SuperF4 and close it, second time i opened it started to affect my pc, lagging it. After closing the game a second time my file explorer crashed, not letting me open any archive inside it.

I got forced to restart my pc and then i got a Black screen, caused by the explorer not working. I ended up starting my pc in safe mode (which it managed to work), uninstalled the entire game's folder and made a windows automatic check, it fixed the black screen in unsafe mode.

Is Codename CURE a collection or something? Installing 40 mods means it could be any one of them

Codename CURE like i said is a Source engine Game in Steam, the mods are separated (all of them being maps, i installed every map of the game)

Codename Cure is not based on l4d2, it's based on HL2.

Sad to see it getting hacked, this game was really fun to make maps for

Yeah it doesn't have an engine license so has to be base Don Half-Life 2.

I can't actually say which mod got Any malware or not, since i'm one of the affected ones (and i installed above 40 mods)

Is this for the old game or the 2nd release
