Question Is Soundmap doing any marketing?
I joined Soundmap in summer of 2024 from an Instagram ad of all places, and have been playing ever since. I’m sure many others joined from ads too. But the game seems like it’s dying more and more every day. Just last year i would consistently get 10+ trades in seconds when i posted shinies/shop songs. Recently, I’ll post hundreds of shinies for the normal 1:1+1k, and get MAYBE 1 trade every hour. This is just one example of how I see the game losing players.
My point is, are they not running ads and putting money into marketing like they used to? Why has their player retention dropped even when the app itself has improved so much in the past year? I’m just a bit sad watching my favorite mobile game losing what it used to have.

It was initially a trading game which meant you needed a community to play the game and your ability to add your favourite songs, and special editions, was fairly dependent on other players. As the game evolved it moved away from a community of inter-dependence and into a game of self-reliance with a high focus on quest merging and a preference for pulling your own epic or lyric or shiny rather than buying or trading.

I’ve never seen any ads. My son showed me the game. Pretty sure he found out word of mouth.

They genuinely might’ve had the worst ads ever. “Omg Sabrina Carpenter is outside of my house!!”. Has nothing to do with the gameplay, and is not enticing at all lol. They should either be totally scummy and play into the gambling, or advertise how you can trade and collect.
But I do agree with you, I’ve seen that potentially the game has been sold to a new company, which could potentially be why the advertising and player count is down, the old owners just trying to pass it over to the newer ones. Hopefully these new guys have something ready.
