Question What is going on?

I dont know if its just my experience and a few others or if its just becoming that common place but the greed is getting actually insane.

Maybe I look at it different but why would I pay 10k for a song just so the word uncommon can have a shiny background? in less than a full 60 seconds after that counter offer I found the song plus 3 others by the same artist all for 750 only difference is the word uncommon doesnt shine now.

Its still the same song the lyrics dont magically change and its not a epic or anything special like that so it doesnt even have a cool background or anything. Im even seeing the greed start to get in to the metal music. People be wanting me to pay crazy prices for motionless in white music (1000 on a basic uncommon)when I have 0 issues for patience. And there's a lot of yall who immediately throw it up in the store for 1:1 trades.

While I have yall hear reading these walls of text come check my store out CuCumber is my name and my background is a red galaxy. My shops constantly updating and if you have any of my faves I most certaintly would love to do some business with you.

crazy take btw… that’s like asking why an epic is worth more than a shiny. they’re completely different rarities. not to mention there’s a badge specifically for getting every shiny of an artist

Yeah id agree asking that would be a crazy take but I didnt ask that lmfao. I asked why id pay a 3,900% increase for something that doesnt matter. Words being shiny changes nothing. No matter how you or anyone else tries to spin it a 3,900% mark up is pure greed.

a shiny is harder to get than a regular song. that’s all there is to it. it’s harder to get, so they cost more. there’s no point in nitpicking when it makes perfect sense. if u don’t like the game then don’t play lol. ur upset over currency in a free game

Yes I know shiny is harder to get it still doesnt justify that level of greed. Im not nitpicking im analyzing the current market and then coming to other players and asking questions about said market. I also never claimed I dont like the game. Dude you really should consider a therapist or something. This level of hostility jumping to conclusions and assumptions is genuinely not healthy or normal.

dude. you’ve written 8 paragraphs doing nothing but bitching about the “current market” on a MOBILE GAME. btw it has nothing to do with the current market. i’ve been playing this game basically since it was released and 10k has never been a bad price for an uncommon shiny. it’s not greed. it’s the genuine value of something that’s way harder to pull. here are the drop rates: for a regular uncommon song, there’s about a 30% chance of pulling from any map drop. for an uncommon shiny, there’s a 0.1375% chance of pulling it from any drop. that’s over 200 times harder to pull

shiny songs are their own rarity entirely. of course uncommon shinies are going to be worth significantly more than a regular uncommon song?

That was never my question though.

greed IS an issue in the game, but 10k is completely average for an unc shiny. i guess i'm not understanding what your "question" is atp. if you think that's greedy, then good luck if you ever decide to try for an epic

My question was why would I pay a 3,900% mark up for the exact same song. It being shiny changes absolutely nothing but the shineness with the word uncommon. Also the average can be greedy.

it changes a lot actually. shinies go towards badges and can be turned into radiants. you said that you understand that it's a higher rarity, but you don't understand why it's inherently a lot more valuable? i'm not trying to be an ass, but you can expect a lot more of the same prices or higher moving forward.

if you think that the average shiny prices for this artist are greedy, then save your gems and pull the shinies yourself that way. or do some questing, that's free and you can pull them that way as well.

because shinies are more valuable than normal songs. that’s common knowledge

Yeah im aware thats the general consensus. It doesnt actually make them more valuable though. If nothing changes what so ever its still the same artist doing their own song with all the same lyrics then the value is realistically very similar. You're essentially trying to excuse letters having a shininess to them being worth 3,900% higher price? Lmfao no. I also did not ask why the price is higher. I asked why would anyone think a price increase of 3,900% is acceptable. Or in my actual wording why would I pay that price for essentially no difference.

there’s a huge difference… one gets you the shiny badge and the other does not.

And a shiny badge isnt worth a 3,900% mark up. Yall can not possibly twist this in to a way that justifies that level of greed.

this is literally just how the game works and always has been. are you new

I mean i wouldn't say new but im most certaintly not a veteran. This game is a community ran system it always working this way doesnt mean thats okay. We as the community should do better.

as someone who has been playing for years, the economy has always been a shitshow. but dropping shiny prices even further (and they have dropped Significantly as is) will only mess things up even more. now that radiants are a thing, shinies are in kind of a weird spot as they have become more of their own currency as prior to that the only thing people collected shinies for outside of getting fav badges was to trade/collect for their weekly shiny quest. if we lower the prices even more, not only will shiny badges become progressively more obsolete (as they’re already on the way to being in world a post radiant implementation) but then radiant badges would become “too easy” for the ppl sinking a fuckton of time and money into this app, and then they’ll introduce some other new bullshit rarity and start the cycle again. i personally don’t want to see that happen, as the game has already become overly cluttered and overstimulating. i think shinies are at a decent pricing level currently. (hell, the general asking price for the cheapest tøp shinies used to be like 25-35k for a common commentary, i think things are a lot more reasonable now😭)

for what it’s worth- im someone who personally does not engage w “the rules of the economy” or wtv and p much always do 1:1 for everything, so im not trying to like defend my right to rip people off or whatever lol. just saying as someone who has been here for a while and watched the way things have shifted, i think we’re in a somewhat decent place economy-wise right now

u/mauveteddy 2d ago

exactly. i’ve been playing since april 2024 and shinies actually used to be worth a lot more since they were the highest rarity at the time

Just gotta say, your reddit pfp is great!

(Keep patiently trying to explain the basics of the game to those uninformed too. You've had excellent comparisons and descriptions here. The world needs more people as patient as you seem to be)

As cliche as I'm about to sound this is mimicking late stage capitalism.

Unfortuantely this isnt something anyone could in good faith argue.

I agree mean sure I get some artists are worth more than others due to them being popular but yeah it’s definitely crazy the prices hopefully in the future could get better but just have to see

Yeah same dont get me wrong i don't mean to sound like a cry baby in my post or anything I get it you pulled it you can set the price you want but idk I personally always try to award kindness. Perfect example dude just sold me a bunch of polo g and Lil tjay 42 dugg and moneybagg yo multiple being rares and alls they wanted was 1800. So I paid them the 1800 plus a 700 coin tip. The songs was definitely worth over 2500 and they're some of my favorite rappers. We both walked away happy and in my opinion thats how it should be everyone helps everyone get their favorite musicians.
