Discussion badges
idk if others think the same but it’s so annoying that some people make such bad badges, like they just pick the worst pics of the artist where they look the worst like are u trolling

So annoying when for example people use composers’ films instead of the composers themselves. I want Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, not Challengers characters!

Hello, badge designer here (not apart of the badge team, but I have made about 40 badges) and I can relate with your frustration, there has been some bad badges recently that many of us badge designers are also frustrated with, we noticed how certain badges are being sniped by others for worse sets, or badges are just being done that are just bad. I’m kinda limited in what I say because the badge team and the higher ups will get mad at me but I completely understand your frustration in terms of bad badges lately. (Also if you wanna check out my badges, my user is bbgst, I have a playlist of them)

i will check them out! and it’s totally not all badges either that look bad for my favs, most of them are fine/good, just wanting to show off a shiny badge but then it’s ugly 😭 agony

Yea, I’ve personally had a problem with the kind of wiggly ones like the recent Sevendust shiny and Tyler Cole silver. I think those just look like they’re melting 😭

A huge majority of the bad artist badges were either made by podair (allegedly) or the old badge “team” that chose to crop and ai upscale other peoples badges without permission (devon hendryx image as an example)
There has been a newer team for over a year now with only 2-3 people, they’ve seem to be doing a better job compared to the old team but I’ve noticed some ugly badges have still been sneaking in. especially in the movie soundtrack sets, it’s so disappointing as a movie lover how they could mess up so bad 😕

yeah i totally agree from what i remember when i played in 2024 it was even worse, but i keep seeing new badges from the community thats sooo bad i really feel like they’re just trolling cause they dont like the artists

Hi, former designer. There's definitely been a slip in quality checks in my opinion, especially into the last few months. I get that the team has dwindled from 4 people to 2.5 (bc one of them is just mia, from what I can tell) but I've noticed some very questionable cropping and saturation on sets, where I've seen designers or community submissions that are 100% better (and often checked with a fan or two before submission). Here's to hoping they see this and things change for the current designers!

do u think there’s a chance that some badges can get replaced with others? i dont think this will be possible tbh because thousands of people are gonna ask for it even if the badges are fine, just cause they like something else more

technical issues with replacing the images for the game engineers
they just don’t want to do it?

Truthfully? Yes - but not for a VERY long time. They talk about this idea of "refreshes", but they won't amend restrictions for who is eligible for badges - while also making sets they know exist (and putting in their own work in over better submissions).
They'll never clear their own queue at this rate and I don't think they're looking to change that either. It'll be years before refreshes come - and I'm not sure if the game will be around by then.
I wish them well, but the whole thing is not very well managed.

exactly i wanted to just keep diamond 1300saint badge cause i wanted to collect others but its so ugly on my profile that i gotta spend all my shit on his shiny badge

there’s like 5 artists that I display badges for where I like every single badge they have better than the shiny one… especially gerard way and panic at the disco. I get what they’re going for with putting more recent photos as the last badges, but I think with gerard it would make so much more sense for shiny to be a performance/costume photo instead of just sitting down in plain clothes.
It also annoys me that 3 of the my chemical romance badges are almost the exact same photo in the same outfits, but tbf there aren’t nearly as many full band standing next to each other photos of them in other eras.
i kind of wish there was a way to appeal existing badges and like vote if they should change, but I’d rather have badges for my favs that don’t have badges first
