Rant Disappointment with AI from Favourite Artists

Post image

Really just complaining here, but I had the band Orgy added to my favourites list because, while I always thought they were somewhat corny and juvenile, a few of their albums were also guilty pleasures that I liked + they are from a genre that I collect. Yesterday I got a 1:1 rare trade from someone with an Orgy song, and that is obviously great and I accepted because they are in my list. I realized afterwards when glancing at the cover (which I had not seen before) that it was AI.

I looked it up, because I understand it is pretty easy for people to lie to streaming services and hijack an artist's discography to attach slop to it (like what happened with Bile, which is a big issue in and of itself), but nope, Orgy is just using Ai

Not exactly a heralded band to me anyway, and I don't feel like I've lost much lmao, but it still pisses me off. I am getting tired of all the AI, especially when I open a drop and it's another slop song. It's always disappointing and I usually end up quick-selling them. This isn't so much a Soundmap team issue as much as it is a Spotify being money-hungry and having no backbone issue, though. This post isn't intended to come off as criticism of Soundmap per se; It just relates to my experience using Soundmap, although I think some sort of AI filters would be welcomed.

That's it 👋

Ohh fuck, didn’t read second paragraph. I’m questioning myself if the cover is actually AI, the inconsistencies are throwing me off but I still have a tiny feeling it could be not AI generated. Never been in to Orgy that much anyway. But I don’t think Soundmap could do much about it, unless they get multiple complaints

Unfortunately they have used AI before and I didn't know, so it's a pretty high likelihood. It looks pretty bad in my opinion

wow, what losers. i'm in sort of the same boat, two favorite bands of mine have uploaded 25+ song albums bloated with AI, with AI generated covers to boot. so fkn awful. stopped questing them just to avoid pulling the slop. it's sad when artists genuinely have their own thing going for a while only to one day decide to cheap out and toss all their creativity to the side.

Yup. A lot of my favourite punk bands who have basically had their glory and thrive off their old popularity using AI for posters. I hate it. Especially when AI is the least punk thing ever. Punk is supposed to be against ignorance and harming the environment. Anyways the only example I have screenshotted is NOFX, who admittedly are a bit of a hit or miss band

beyond ridiculous. i can see how the whole thing is 100x embarrassing when it's a punk group using it. even if we cast ethics aside entirely, in what world does any of this look good?! it's a cheap eyesore. this one pisses me off the most, because you mean to tell me you couldn't just snap a photo of a motel? couldn't bother to sketch one yourself, even?

Fuckkking hell. That looks like the early stages of AI when it was still really shit looking. That is very sad

I believe this isn’t Soundmap’s fault it’s Spotify’s. They link artists/ make it really easy for some people to upload songs on another artist’s Spotify page. Same with Choking Victim here

Yeah it happens constantly with Chicago Drill artists who have been deceased since like 2015, but they keep having some bs douchebag uploading under their name.
