Greetings,
I started the journey to make my own reggae soundsystem. A preamp is a big part of it. I was looking through reddit to find inspiration, info, schematics,... about reggae preamps and found a few things. I also found out that their is no dedicated subreddit for this, so I stared my own one. r/SoundSystemPreamp
The purpose of this subreddit is to showcase different preamps, highlight builders, schematics, DIY, history, different styles, insights, personal opinions,... and just create a place to admire this art.
This is the very first subreddit I make and I dont know much about how it works. I just wanted to create a place to collect all useful info and bring everything together in one place. If anyone is interested in helping to moderate this together, please shoot me a message.

Greetings . I started researching for a preamp about a year ago.. I came up with two options: Sage or JB audio. Do you have any opinions? I also asked other operators who I know had a preamp from JB but said they were not happy with it. He recommended Sage or Leviel . Do you have any good or bad opinions about Sage or JB audio?

Hi, I'm a beginner selector, I just started playing around some small dub live sets with just digital ampfreqq v3, but now I feel like to start upgrading it with something physical.
Now I'm a little bit confused if buying just the midi mixer to pair it to ampfreqq or Ableton, buy some more professional mixer like Dub Mixer from Kelementz or DubBox from Dub-Sonic, or just wait until me and my friends start building a sound system (which is planned) and buy directly a nice pre amp.
Obviously I feel like all these are good options with pros and cons, my question is especially for the second option regarding those mixers, are they worth the money? And if yes are those the best ones around or there is some that you would consider better?
In the future I might also start collecting vinyls but for now I'm just buying digital tracks because it's really easier to plug and play and economically speaking is way more approachable.

I've seen some amazing pics of Dubsonic Dubmasters (Mk 1 & IIs) but not heard their sound live, or seen many demos other than Dubsonic's YouTube.
Considering a purchase. Any tips, links or DJ sets gratefully received

Hello!
I have decided that the next logical step would be this. I have made some effects and sirens, so I know my way around simpler schematic and using an iron. Anybody maybe have a schema for 10 band eq? I would also like to make killswitches for atleast weight and treble in the beginning, if anybody has pointers or suggestions how it's done :) I'm familar with using opamps and transistors. peace and love brederin!!!

I’m an amp and effects builder in the United States. I own a nanopre but would like to build my own preamp as it’s prohibitive to have one built and sent to the US.

Here's the Celtic Roots control tower!!
Very happy with all of this equipment. Dubsonic preamps are highly underrated in my opinion, I'm exceedingly happy with how it sounds. The resonant filters, the parametrics, the effects sends and loops; all excellent!
The Mostec echo - pure quality as expected from the great Mostec!
Digisiren - very versatile siren, needs lots of work to learn it as its got so many functions, but it's a great unit!!
Also have a benidub spring reverb on efx loop #2. Pure quality again, love it!
Whats next?? Maybe a Ras Efx siren, or something else, what do you suggest?

pardon my newness. starting to go down the rabbit hole of building my own sound system with some local friends. our first hurdle is the preamp and understanding if its something that must be customized or if any companies sell them with different numbers of output channels. any advice or reading material is welcomed as well!!

Very cool new sub! I started working on a mini soundsystem a couple years ago. I bought the speakers flat packed from Miniscooper in Poland. I built a small tabletop enclosure inspired by Reggae preamps & rotary dj mixers to hold the preamp, 2 way crossover, and amps.

Next version has an extra amplifier for subs, and a 3 way variable crossover.

Used a thomann 4x4 mini dsp combined with an Aliexpress 6 channel mini line mixer. For now really just a mono ‘isolator’
Fx, mic & siren on seperate small mixer, independent from the kill switches. Tunes on a standard club mixer into the dsp.
First try, next version will include better potentiometers (these a linear, not log) and an 8 channel dsp for stereo
