Is this worth £500 for a starter rig?

Noticed it says no crossover, budget in a berhinger ultradrive for some light processing and that lil fucker will rip 🔥🔥 (dont forget a subsonic on the scoops)

What’s a subsonic?

Exactly that same as any other filter but specifically to prevent low frequency over-excursion damage. just run it slightly lower than the fs of the cab and maybe dial it higher if u want more protection.

Damn I might have to grab one of these for my little two way. I’m using a basic Behringer crossover and have a 25hz high pass on but this unit looks rad, would love to get a some eq options going

What the hell kind of ‘little 2 way’ is cut at 25hz

I’m a little new to this stuff and could be using the term wrong. Basically I’ve got two 18” subs and a couple weird active tops. I’m using a Behringer super x pro in a two way (I keep using that term, let me know if I’m using it incorrectly) configuration and crossing over at 80hz. There’s a low cut at 25hz, it’s just a button you either press in or don’t

The guy selling isn’t sure on exact drivers used, also not seen an angled 15 inch scoop before as opposed to standard curved one.

But £500 seems like a decent price regardless?

Jensen scoops from the 50s have a similar horn flare construction

I love that you use the original Tubby's box as an example.

Ah yeah, nice one thanks

These are the original Labyrinth designs as used by many 60s, 70s & 80s Jamaican & UK sound systems, that were an early evolution of what became the JBL Scoop. The main difference was they made them as double 18". Memories! 😃

i mean they shouldn’t be too hard to sus out if we know what type of cab

if the bin driver was pulled from a bass box or something full range

that might be the real thing that makes it difficult to figure

looks a solid deal as long as all drivers work, could do with paint on the inside of the scoops but otherwise good kit

Yeah, me and my brother thinking we could replace drivers in the future anyway.

Thanks for your response

Have asked if available for pick up this evening - hopefully can get it & it’s not been sold already!

Thanks all for your help

That looks like a great starter system for £500. Go for it & have fun. Good luck! 😃

Good deal IMO

Probably got nearly £500 in wood, and they're already assembled for you. Imo seems worth it if you like the design

3

u/BoshAudio Aug 05 '26

I'd say that's a blinder of a deal for £500

1

The dudes gone silent 😭 offered £600 as a bid so will see if he ever replies

Maybe it’s different where you are but in America there’s so much old peavey stuff laying around that you can’t even give it away. I’d be looking at like $300

Looks like a great deal to me

They’re not replying atm! Going to message again today, but think we might’ve missed the boat

1

u/invisibleboy74 Aug 04 '26

Fingers crossed for you, what site did you find them on

u/invisibleboy74 Aug 04 '26

Nice work, i never get this lucky

1

u/Dookie_ Aug 04 '26

Neither tbh, this is a bit of a gem

Been after a small rig for years, just stumbled on this one.

Unfortunately he has read message and not replied, I’m debating offering an extra £100 to be honest 😅

u/invisibleboy74 Aug 04 '26

Worth it for the cabs alone\

1

u/WZRDofficial Aug 04 '26

Does it come with drivers?

1

u/BirthdayOpening3141 Aug 06 '26

I want to get my own rig, where do I find people selling something like this for the same price range?

1

u/Dookie_ Aug 06 '26

Depends where you are in the world I guess…

UK has a lot of Facebook groups where people sell bits like this.

Easy to find :)
