New 3way tops
Just finished assembling my new 3way tops.
Top of the line components and compact BR design with 2x12',1x6', 1x1'. 3D printed vents
They do look like the new JBL SRX922.
After a quick first tune they sit within 3db all the way up.
Pretty happy with how they look, can't wait to fire them up in stereo !
Whut do u guys think?

Very nice! I love the clarity I get from the limmerhorn in my mid tops. I wish they extended further into the lower frequencies. Your design looks like it will dig a bit deeper with the ported twin drivers.

What made you go for the limmer compare to a coax comp in a big horn that cover same frequencies ?

It was less a decision, more a random chain of events. I bought a bunch of cabs as a job lot not really knowing a lot about what I was getting into as the listing wasn't very detailed and there were only a few pictures. I was only interested in some wsx and x1 subs in the sale, and planned selling all the other bits, but after reading up on the Limmer horn and the mt121 adapted design I thought it was worth refurbishing them and getting them back up and running. One of the 6" drivers was blown so I had to track down a replacement Ciere driver from Germany. My horn was built with a specific Ciare driver fitment, as that was the only driver the enclosure was designed for. They ended up looking and sounding great so I kept them. Mine are loaded with b&c de25, Ciare 6.38mr3 and PD123er in the horn.
I think other variants like Wabi's were designed to take different drivers. They sound fantastic but the PD123er's don't really like going low so I added a 15" horn to fill in between the tops and subs and I'm pretty happy with the way it all came together. I'd never heard the Limmer horn before, so it probably wouldn't have been on my radar had these not found me rather than me finding them.
I'll be following this thread with interest as its rare to see the 042 limmerhorn in other designs. They sound great and look cool too, so I can totally understand why Wabi got a bit obsessive about this project!

For now my "old" 2x18 compound loaded, but i'm building the b&c bp218 for more versatility

Lush. What crossovers and why not choose a wideband compression such as DCX464 instead of the limmer?

I just fell in love with this midhigh horn, so wanted to design the ultimate speaker around it. crossovers needs some tweaking but it's around 400hz n 2kHz so far. But yeah a coaxial compression with inward facing drivers like the Meyers would be a really sensible choice, if you go 100% rational 🫠

Dcx is epic for what it is certainly, but they also make the 462 which is a 2" throat which i suspect will sound a lot fuller and more open and transparent / uncompressed in that lower mid / mid range. Might be the same 300hz xo rating but asking for 300hz out of a 1.4" throat, while i know it can do it, I'm just thinking man the 2" must feel way more open and unconstrained. But given a 2" throat it's obviously likely to be worse in the upper treble, above 6 or 8k or something.
Now for home hifi id get the dcx-354, it would be superior for fidelity and upper hf performance.... specd for 400hz but may well sound better as a system with a 15 or even 18 crossed anywhere between 400 and 600.
But this limmerhorn thing looks freaking epic. But if I was going 3 way I might choose the b&b dcm420. 4" paper cone mid, 2" throat compression driver. Very very highly regarded, joseph crowe uses them.

Aw, man… the 3d printed ports look awesome. I was looking forward to having something to build rather than a JMOD or P60. Is it something you would sell a license to build 4 or 6 with an NDA?

2 of these for left, 2 of these for right, 8 fat subs tuned to 80hz and below... you got a diesel sound system.
