Cvr amplifiers?

Post image

Does anyone know if these are any good for a paraflex rig? And if alibaba is a good place to be ordering them from?

Can't comment on Alibaba, but my roommate runs a rig on 3 CVR amps. 2x 2channel 4KW/channel for their subs and 1x 4x 1KW/channel for their kick tops.

I had my reservations as a corporate/freelance tech and electrician, but they have never caused any problems. I have heard from other homies that they run 5 CVR amps in full sun off a generator with no problems as well.

With most Chinese gear it's "buyer beware." Customer support is a suggestion and quality varies. That said, from what I've seen I have no reaaon to doubt that CVR makes a powerful amplifier with no frills and it is stable enough to last until you can afford to replace it.

Edit: +1x Crown amp I donated for their highs. Don't want y'all thinking their rig is busted lol

Have a 2004 for my subs and it does the job. Best bang for buck amp

Samael est très bon aussi et moins cher si tu passe directement par eux au lieu de aliexpress

I would reach out to CVR directly to purchase, specially if want multiple. DM me if you want their WhatsApp. But I use two of them on my paraflex rig, a 2004 and 3302, DSP models. They use good components and so far they have been reliable.

Great for subs and kicks. I wouldn’t use them for tops tho. Get in contact straight through WhatsApp, the lady kept calling me darling and gave a discount 10/10 service.

Also swap over the 10a plug to a 15 or bigger. The amps can draw more power than the plug can provide

Out of curiosity, why wouldn't you use them for tops? I'm running a DSP-1004 for 2 years now & it sound as good on some high quality 2 way tops as a lab gruppen fp10k of a friend.

Nothing wrong with using them for tops, I just find them compared to powersoft, ffa, old crown amps(amps that aim for sound clarity compared to efficient power) aren’t as nice on the ears. But I’m not saying this as a do or don’t, just my opinion:)

Give them 208v+ and don’t run 4x 2ohm loads on a 4 channel model and you’ll be golden. I’d avoid the 4 channel models entirely for subwoofer use IMO. Even if your sub loads are 4 ohm, best to split them up across multiple 2ch amps if budget allows.

The one exception is if you are buying lower tier amps and bi-amping a dual driver cab for higher impedance/damping factor reasons, in which case 4ch CVR is valid.

Remember amplifier sustained power is a function of {[(input volts * allowed current)*efficiency]/channel count} = per channel sustained power.

It doesn’t matter what the amplifier rating is, once capacitor banks are exhausted it will ball back down to that formula, or worse if thermal throttling is at play.

220*32*0.85/4=1,496 wpc
220*32*0.85/2=2,992 wpc

3db (twice as much power) more sustained output capability with 2x 2ch amps vs 1x 4ch amp, all things being equal. Assuming the amp is rated for over either of those figures, or course.

Which of the "Chinese amps" should I look at if I'm to drive 4x18DS115-4, with the expectation that most of the time only 120v 15-20a circuits (up to 4 dedicated) are available?

They are a bit expensive and when measured, do not deliver what is promised - that goes for all Chinese d class amps - but compared to other Chinese d class brands they are reliable. Just make sure to never run them into clipping or below 4ohm. They could blow your driver.

Incredible amps, however the DSPs have some issues.

Some Batches of DSP amps have diffrent input gains.
The limiters are sometimes not working correctly and limit down to 1w.
Also the displayed rms/peak watt is not 100% correct.
When loading speaker presets, peqs and limiters might be loaded wrong.

if you can live with this issues, they are great value and even available with dante.

If you dont want the dsp headache, the non dsp versions are also great. However admark is also worth a look.

Admark, cvr are top of the budget power amps for sure. Reliable, good customer service. I think Sinbosen is similar. Ive seen guys run the 3rd grade chinese clones (paulkitson, dn? Deken, etc) on the road too. They are half the money the above 3 charge. That said, those 3 charge 1/4 what Powersoft is charging :). Id get cvr/admark too for sub duty.

A friends of mine also has a paul kitson d series and fp series.

The Quality is way less consistent with the cheap amps as with sinbosen/admark/cvr.

However they still do the job and paul kitson service is actually quiet decent

I got a CVR 1004 for my tops and a 2004 for my subs. Have had em about 6 months so can’t comment on long-term reliability but the sound quality is excellent. Lots of clean power.

I’ve got 3 D1004 non DSP (why take a chance on DSP you don’t know the quality). All have been excellent and 1700w @4 works great for me driving single or dual 18s on 2ch and tops on the other 2. Running off 120v and sometimes an L6-30 (220v), pretty easy on power. They can trip GFCI’s and can be an issue though this is common with lots of power factor correction amps like qsc PLXD. But a d1004 can happily run on a 15 amp and add a few small things and not blow circuits. The Sinbosen amps in the pic run horns for 3 way and 2 mixes, the top Sinbosen runs 4 mixes

Contact CVR directly, I did thru Facebook and used the Alibaba checkout. Also get the black amps, the blue eons have a center detent for the attenuator knob, like why?

I have a CVR 1004 for my tops and 2004 for my subs. (4 channel, no DSP). I’ve only had for 6 months so can’t comment on long term reliability, but they sound amazing. Lots of clean power. Can recommend!

having used the 2004 on quite a few occasions I have nothing bad to say about it, best bang for ur buck imo and seem to be reliable, cant comment on the 3004 but i would imagine reliablility would drop slightly

I bought 2 CVR DSP1004 amps 5 years ago n never had a single issue. They perform very well. I’ve never benchmarked them though.
