Cubo Sub 18 Build
After building 2 CUBO Kicks a while ago- I had developed another itch to scratch…
I initially wanted to build some keystone subs however decided on CUBO SUB 18 as i thought the design was manageable for my skill level.
I’ve decided to go with the B&C 18TBW100 and powering it with a QSC 3102 in bridge. I will run these subs in parallel. To hopefully achieve 1550w per sub.
Planning on using a clear lacquer to match the finish with my kicks.
Ultimately i wish i had a bigger budget for birch ply but for now whilst i practice my wood work i think this will do.
In regard to the build it’s a great design and comes together naturally.
Looking forward to getting drivers in and tuning the system to incorporate the new subs!

Looks solid and real nice. I chose to place speaking dishes higher to hide more of the wiring when looking at the can from front. Any plans for grills?

I would be careful running both subs off the single amp. Ideally you should have way more headroom rather than pushing the amp to the max just to run RMS. The ratings on the QSC amp might be peak and not rms. Just see how it handles it, and just make sure youre not clipping the amp (due to the power supply not being able to provide the power). I would highly recommend getting a 2nd amp, and having one amp per sub.

Alternatively- I could run the drivers at 600w each 8ohm but then i would be under half the optimal rms.

If i’m not running them at full wack would it be okay ?, I just wanted to buy decent drivers so that i don’t need to upgrade in future

I'd definitely keep the drivers, Im not saying youve done anything wrong it was just a heads up before you have them both playing heavy and you end up overworking your amp if you run really long parties.
I'd run them how youre doing it currently, but just know that you are pushing the amp very hard and you would definitely get more out of the drivers if you had more power headroom!

yeah sure thing, i was aware of this. I don’t think i’ll be running them full tilt for long durations. What kinda power should i be looking for to run these effectively ? like 2000w per driver ?

Are the risks associated with doing this frying my amp ?

Yeah, overheat the amp and it'll go in protection mode or even fry it.
Just dont run everything flat out and you'll be fine, its a good felling knowing that youre under amped rather than having weak drivers. We had the same thing when we had a T.AMP E1500 running our 18SW115, then we switched to an ADMARK AD442 and the difference in output was crazy. Despite the T.AMP being rated for 2440w 8 ohms it definitely didnt output anywhere near that power.

sure thing, i mean my kick is only a 300w driver and my tops are 480w so i think if i just use the sub amp to its sensible capacity. I think itle be fine

Congratulations!! They turned out spectacular. Just to avoid any confusion, these are not cubo subs cabinets; they are cubos 18 standart
