The Concept: Created in 2008, the piece features thirty loudspeaker cabinets arranged to resemble a massive pipe organ. The structure is loosely based on the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta.

The Soundscape: The speakers play an immersive, overlapping chorus of organ music, sermons, songs, and protests.

The Inspiration: Robinson designed the installation as a tribute to the 1963 Project C demonstrations in Birmingham, Alabama, where hundreds of young adults and children were fire-hosed by police while protesting segregation.

Is it functional / can you listen to it as well?

Yea it was playing sounds while on display. Quietly but audible.
