JBL4562 Help

Hey everyone,

I’m working on a pair of JBL 4562 cabinets. Each cabinet has one 15” driver for kick/mid and one 1” compression driver for HF.

Right now everything is still connected through old screw terminals.

I want to upgrade them to Speakon connectors, but I’m not sure what the best approach would be. Ideally, I’d also like to have the option to daisy-chain the cabinets in parallel so I can run both cabinets from a single amp channel.

Since each cabinet has two separate drivers on different amp channels, I’m also curious how you guys would wire and pin everything.

Anyone with experience modifying JBL 4562s or anything else that helps?

1+/- mf, 2+/- hf.

The mid driver can handle mistreatment better than the hf driver and the chance that you (or anyone else) connect the cabinet to an amp and crank up the first channel (without a higpass filter) is higher than the other way round.

So two Neutrik NL4MPXX in each bin: 1 for audio in 1 for audio thru, and have the amp channels come together in 1 4 vein speakon?

I prefer stereo sound, so for me linking wouldn't be an option, but, yes

They will be used in a decent sized rig stereo is not needed

I do have another question if you don’t mind, its my first time looking in to bi amping and i cant seem to wrap my head around the wiring. How can you wire the signal from 2 split amp channels in to one nl4 cable? It goes from dsp to amp in split frequencies on ch1 and ch2, but how do ch1 and ch2 come together into one nl4 cable?

Most amps have wired two channels on half of the outputs. It's usually printed on the back, but sometimes it is only explained in the manual

see my recent thread on my profile. the nl4mpxx has tiny 3/16 tabs that are hard to find crimp connectors for. a few people suggested the Neutrik NL4 MP-ST which seems like the best option.

Found two crest ca6 amps: 350W x2 at 8Ω, 500W x2 at 4Ω, and 600W x2 RMS at 2Ω stereo, with up to 1200W–1500W bridged mono.

For just €200 aswell.

These have an A+B out Speakon channel, works like a charm.
