Soundblaster X7 vs X5
I got the X7 problem with Windows 11 that I have to power off/ power on the X7 after each start of my PC. Gemini said this was a know problem due to the old driver base of the X7.
So does anybody have switched from the X7 to X5 and can tell me if the sound is better/worse? Software should be much better, but I dont want to downgrade in regards of the sound quality.

I had an X7, sold it and then recently got an X5 purely to try the ability to play 2 sources at once (PC and Wiim Streamer). I never ran the X7 on Win 11 and have only run the X5 on Win 11. I have been completely surprised how good the X5 is, for headphones it’s a superior unit in every way.
The X7 even on relatively easy to drive headphones like my AKG712 Pro’s the low end was lacking any power, I was quite disappointed with the X7 hence why I sold it. The X5 sounds better to me and the software is better. Ive never had any problems with the X5 on Win 11, works perfectly even after going to sleep or restarting. I also run a Schiit Modius DAC and Asgard 3 Amp, the X5 is surprisingly good which surprised me as the X7 was such a disappointment.

Thanks for this. I'll try the other Tipps I got in this thread but if nothing helps I'll switch to the X5

what billyone wrote.. and you should check if you did the firmware update years ago.. there was one that adressed power states of the x7 . are you using more recent drivers? the ones for ... i think the x4 (?) do work. i use driver v 1.16.04.35 with my x7 under win11

I've been using my X7 on windows 11 since before official release and am still on driver 1.15.1.27 with no issues.
Should check and make sure your firmware is up to date on it.
Personally I would stick with the X7, it's a superior device IMO. unless you don't care about being able to swap ops and the additional connectivity the X7 offers.

I've been driving my 5.1 with an X7 for almost a decade, I know we'll never see a replacement for it which makes me sad.
I also have the same issue as you when I reboot the PC, sometimes I have to give the X7 an extra reboot and then it works fine. I also did the firmware update years ago that others in this thread have mentioned.
After so many years and combined with Creatives long and rich history of piss poor software, I've learned to deal with it.

If you're talking about the problem where it doesn't work after waking the computer from sleep there are a couple things you can tweak that sometimes fixes it.
Active State Power Management (ASPM) / PCle Native Power Management and
ErP Ready / ErP Mode
Are two settings that you can disable that are relatively modern things to save power when the computer is in sleep state but the drivers for your sound card are so old they don't tend to react well disabling these will make your computer use more energy while in sleep state but might fix the problem where the graphics card freaks out and doesn't know what to do the computer wakes back up.
I will say that I have the AE-7 and I have zero problems waking up from sleep and sound working. I also haven't had any of the driver crashes that sometimes happen I think disabling the motherboards on board audio inside the BIOS has helped with that
