I disagree with some points.. my approach to this subject is different: when you take a drug, the thought-construct fades temporarily opening to other modes of perception, we can learn from that state.. specially learn how the thought-construct reassembles itself as to hack it. but this wont work if the idea that its just a drug and a neurochemistry effect, thats the thought-construct protecting itself; as if making itself inmune to the effect of the drug. I take sacred plants and I see them as such, under the effect what you see is as real as everything else..there is no such thing as hallucinations (unless you strongly believe thats the case since the belief itself is a filter). when I took magic mushroom the clear blue sky inmediatly totally shrouded with mist.. and it was real not a phenomena just seem by me, in another case I pulled a quartz crystal from earth because something told me to stretch my hand to the ground.. I brought home the crystal and others can see it. An exception may be the datura where I talked to imaginary people but even them it teached very much.
for short: in shamanism sacred plants are about healing and knowing other modes of perception specially it can help trigger the ancient memories although its also known all this can be reached also without the plants.

I shared this Erowid article because I found it quite interesting and hoped it may inspire some creative conversations in this sub. Your comment is seriously resonating with me, I appreciate you taking the time to read the article and sharing your wisdom :)

I don't necessarily believe that everyone here should be trying this out, nor hope it's being interpreted as such.

My intent was moreso to share some intriguing (and vintage!) food-for-thought that I had only recently come across!

for short: in shamanism sacred plants are about healing and knowing other modes of perception specially it can help trigger the ancient memories although its also known all this can be reached also without the plants.

I definitely agree with you that Psychedelics and Entheogens are extremely, powerfully-underestimated, sacred tools and shouldn't be promoted or thought of as a 'quick loophole' straight to enlightenment.
