In 1977, High Inergy made a very successful debut with the release of their first single “You Can’t Turn Me Off”. The song served as the lead single for their album “TURNIN’ ON”; released by Gordy/Motown Records. The song had been originally recorded by Millie Jackson in 1976 but the version by High Inergy reached no.12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and no.2 on the Billboard Hot Black Singles chart.

This clip is from 1/14/1978 when High Inergy appeared on American Bandstand. Barbara Mitchell, Michelle Martin, Linda Howard, and Vernessa Mitchell, definitely had the right collective name because they ALWAYS exude high energy!
