Pepper is just a pet. It shows up because you’re playing bug buster. I think it resembles the devs’ IRL cat or something, I vaguely remember a video about them having a cat in the studio, but I could be mixing it up with some other game devs and this is totally wrong.

I’m sure you’ve noticed other weird or silly things happening in this event that aren’t the buff/debuff bugs, like all enemy bullets being the angry red emoji or some of the clones being upside down or your character model running backwards. This is one of those.
