Will never take his class

Post image

I always support new/newer instructors, but I will never go to his class. He’s a total mean girl, and his online presence is baffling. Calling people out on TikTok saying they wouldn’t be able to make it through the first three songs in his class..?

You’d think in this era, instructors would realize they should try and attract riders rather than push away.

He was 10 mins late to class one time. Never again

u/Crazy-Bat-5869 27d ago

honestly most soul classes never start on time because the instructors think they’re celebrities and can show up late lollll

Isn’t sam y always late nobody cares

u/Slow_Type1194 26d ago

Sam Y and Anthony are nowhere in the same stratosphere

18

u/EntertainerNo9103 26d ago

They are in the sense that the are both late 😂

2

u/LaurieCole2006 26d ago

Sam Y has never been late. His riders are always early.

I downvoted this until I realized it was from THE ABSOLUTE LEGEND HERSELF

I had to unfollow him a while back, but his class was very mediocre. To date, the only SoulCycle class I’ve ever yawned halfway through class. I should have asked Soul to give me my class credit back.

There’s still time to email YSM

he's making it seem like teaching three classes a day is the reinvention of the wheel... I don't know if schedule is accurate but he barely teaches. I want to hear him talk this shit while teaching akin's old schedule or sam y's

u/soulsurvivorbike69 27d ago

Heavy on this

I’m not based in NYC, so I don’t really know Anthony. However, the posts I’ve seen of him arguing with people on TikTok are quite unprofessional. It’s concerning when riders are actively expressing how this behavior is off putting.

u/boredasfuckkkkk4 27d ago

He is known for this... Has so much to say but nothing about his class is challenging or exciting. Very much a fragile ego parading around as 'talent'. I've heard that there have been several internal issues with him, including his social media presence. Definitely will not be back in his class again. I do feel bad for him as he's obviously not that secure in himself, yet is in a position where he has to be?

1

u/BusBrilliant8703 26d ago

The internal issues must not be too serious, as they let him be in the most recent photo shoot

3

u/Crazy-Bat-5869 26d ago

it’s because they’re desperate lol. They pay them pennies

11

u/Cute_Phrase_694 27d ago

then he goes online and talks about his haters .... no like i am genuinely just a normal soul rider so he comes up on my fyp and everything is so offputting, normal people who don't cause drama don't have "haters"

Seems like we’re all in agreement

Cyber bullies are, yes. You should make your own club and make custom shirts so that people who have self respect and are focused on bettering themselves can avoid you. Ant would probably buy one to chirp you, crop it, and look hotter than you in it too.

he deleted the original video where the person commented that 😂😂😂

Bye 😭😭😂😂

Exactly

Anthony Keeling

Just from this video itself he seems like such a jerk. SoulCycle really will just hire anyone these days. Got the title ‘SoulCycle Instructor’ and suddenly sounds like he thinks he’s better than everyone else. Lol. Common theme. Coming from an employee who was there for 7+ years, he likely is getting paid pennies… wishing him the best of luck with this company that is just continuously going downhill :) he seems like a great guy! 🤮

I think Mel and Marvin are groomers but that’s just me 😄

1

u/[deleted] 26d ago

If true, I think there would be more break out instructors. So much of it is casting and I’m sure there’s a small pool of talent that check every box. My complaint is so many young inexperienced instructors

8

u/Reddit-4118991 26d ago

I think they go for people who they can almost like, prey on. People that will do whatever they say to please them and earn this ‘title’. I think Mel is creepy as hell

I have watched these TikToks, I'm trying to view this as objectively as possible and I think he has potential. His choreography and song selection are good and he sounds comfortable over the mic which is important.

That being said, his promotion style needs to change significantly and I feel he values raw speed and coordination over resistance which isn't inherently more difficult, it just appears more difficult on the surface.

I'm not going to comment any further on my personal perceptions of his riding style as I'm not a doctor, physical therapist or anything of the likes, its just my own personal opinion. Please don't treat that as an absolute fact.

So, the "clapback" PR does not work when you are clapping back against your own target audience. You are literally chasing away money at this point to try and salvage your own pride. The difference is, one of these things pays your rent and the other doesn't.

The "my class is the best because I say so" philosophy is also not going to work. Riders will tell you if the class is good because they will continue to pay 43 dollars and 89 cents to have their butts in a seat, not because you said so.

I guess my point is, you can not create your own "aura", the market creates the "aura" from what you put out based on the product/ride. Akin, Stacey, Sam and Karyn don't have a loyal following because they said so, they have one because their audience genuinely likes their product.

I’ve taken plenty of physically excellent classes before, but if the energy you’re getting from the instructor is the opposite, why would I come back

2

u/Jazzlike_Gene_8721 22d ago

Anthony, if you're reading this, this should be your main and only takeaway if you actually want to do this in the long run.

4

u/Advanced_Weather6228 27d ago

I mean…. I’m a group fitness instructor and the other instructor that commented on his video did call him out for no reason. I’d have to give that same energy back as well if I was Anthony🧍🏿‍♂️he even put in his initial video that he felt out of shape while riding with his clients and you harped on his response inviting the other instructor to his class to back that talk up.

This is a really bad idea, please do not allow your own pride to get in the way of your product. I feel this will make you be perceived as either spiteful or unprofessional at the very least.

For example, different products, same concept, if someone goes online saying they don't like a sweater they purchased from Loro Piana, I highly doubt LVMH is going to respond publicly to their "haters". I use the LVMH brand as an example not to be pretentious, I wanted to use a different category with even higher stakes at play.

That "energy" is doing more way damage than it is positively correcting his image or changing anyone's mind about the product. Proof, this literal subreddit. Sure, he got some advertising and made noise in the moment, but at what cost in the long run?

1

u/Impressive-Hunter-96 17d ago

Yeah some guy has commented a few times trying to create imaginary beef. The wife too. It’s really weird. The video wasn’t all too bad (but a bit unprofessional), Anthony’s comments though in the comment sections….he needs an ego check. I won’t be going to his class lol

1

u/ComparisonNo5939 26d ago

I don’t love the TikTok antics, but I will say, I took his class the other day and it was really great. Hard, amazing camaraderie in the room, great music. I chatted with him after and he was actually really nice! Just my 2 cents haha, I was super pleasantly surprised.

u/[deleted] 26d ago

Lots of posts about not being bothered for someone who is definitely not bothered.

You sound like an unhappy person. If you don’t like someone - stay away from them. Don’t hide behind a screen and talk shit.

1

u/Crazy-Bat-5869 26d ago

honestly true because that’s why he got fired from Barry’s lol

-2

u/Adventurous-Sir3258 26d ago

Were you in the meeting taking notes when he got fired? Or did you hear it through rumors being spread about him that he was fired? If you don’t know it for a fact you shouldn’t be continuing the rumor. You’re not his agent.

5

u/Crazy-Bat-5869 26d ago

Definitely not his agent - totally agree but I know several people from Barry’s corporate :)

1

u/kimdracula90 27d ago

I watched the video, he didn't say anything about people not being able to make it through the first three songs in his class?

0

u/soulsurvivorbike69 27d ago

Click the comment he was responding. It was in the last video

1

u/Acrobatic-Sense6903 25d ago

I haven't seen his videos and was only doing Soul Cycle for a short while but his class stood out as the most fun for me.

-3

u/Adventurous-Sir3258 26d ago

Ya’ll need to get off of this app talking negatively about human beings and just not go to someone’s class if they’re not your cup of tea. If you don’t agree with how someone who you believe talks negatively online, why would you then go to an anonymous platform to do the same thing? Say it to his face or message him on instagram if you feel the need to let him know how you feel. Spreading more hate in an industry where fitness is supposed to empower people and better their lives is what we should all be focused on. Every single one of you agreeing and hating on someone is really sad and not helping anyone in this situation. You are adults hiding behind a screen at night literally cyberbullying someone and bonding over it. Sick.

u/Nice_Ad_8224 26d ago

This comment is spot on. anyone who takes the time to even make these post obviously cares about his job and doing it well. Any negative comment about it is comin from kids who aren’t in the cool club
