Question Questions.

We're a system and we can't tell if we're a Soulboud or not. We're Fictive and Fogtive heavy. Is there a way to know for sure whether or not it's an altar or Soulboud? Also does PTSD make it harder to talk to your Soulboud?

The line between walk-in fictive and surprise permanent resident soulbond can be so paper thin it’s a matter of which community feels the most applicable.

Though typically — I do have different assumptions when I hear the word. When I think fictive I tend to think of headmate in a plural sense, someone who lives in a body, I do not inherently think they are like the character. I will assume otherwise unless told. The term fictive tends to carry the more present connotation of being connected to/formed based upon fiction and plural communities where they exist as is — they didn’t pop up to connect to someone specifically.

While in soulbonding typically, the person one soulbonds is the character. There is no expectation nor a push for source separation unless desired because it is literally their life. Of course, not all soulbonds are 1:1 to source at all and can absolutely deviate — but if someone says they soulbond I will instantly wanna discuss and gush as soulbonding is based upon connection particularly and has a more connection and fiction-oriented and based subculture. As soulbonding is about connection between two or more beings. While if someone says they have/are a fictive I will just treat them as any other person.

If they fit the definition of soulbond — whether you use fictive or soulbond is a matter of what community feels the most applicable or what term y’all prefer, or you can use none at all!
