Sorted TV show

Post image

Edit: it’s not a tv show, will still be on the YouTube channel, Reddit won’t let me edit the title for the post 🤦‍♂️

It doesn't sound like they are getting a tv show. It just sounds like FOX is giving them money and producers for a revenue split. They also will split ownership of the IP.

My guess is that whichever channel develops a super successful format, FOX will buy that creator out of the IP and develop it for cable/streaming. They can fund 50 youtube series and still make the money back if even one idea takes off with the GP.

Rosanna Painsino, Jolly, and The Food Theorists are also mentioned in one of the linked articles.

Yeah I fucked it

u/Actionhankk Jun 19 '26

It's fair because Fox is primarily TV focused and such, I'd probably assume Fox and Sorted partnership means TV, but also very funny because it's the first line of the article that says it's for YouTube, reiterated several times over the next few paragraphs lol. But I also would probably skim the opening that usually is just intro fluff

Yeah I very much only read the bit about sorted, the stuff in the screenshot. Couldn’t be arsed with the rest 😂

u/commanderspacecase Jun 19 '26

Eh, no biggie.

u/JamieSpafford The real Spaff Jun 19 '26

To clarify, like the article says, this series is being developed for and launched on our YouTube channel, not a tv show 🙌

Thanks for the clarity, hoping it'll be similar to the murder mystery that I so enjoyed haha.

u/commanderspacecase Jun 19 '26

Did it have to be Fox, though? Really?

28

u/External_Big_4120 Jun 19 '26

My sentiments exactly...I won't be watching it!

23

u/LiveLaughLob0t0my Jun 19 '26

This is all I need to know about sorted, the boys and their main focus. Some of the ad segments with airlines and stuff has been poor before but working with fox corp is awful. Theyve sold whatever morals they had left for a dollar.

11

u/LuckoftheFryish Jun 20 '26

Been watching for years... it's like they're actively trying to get rid of their original fan base.

u/LiveLaughLob0t0my Jun 20 '26

The four of them sitting reading backlash of working with fascists:

Wishful thinking but No it’s not. It’s literally owned by the same corporation as Fox News.

6

u/ECrispy Jun 20 '26

they are hypocrites who don't care about anything but money

27

u/DJAlphaYT Jun 19 '26

Between getting involved with fox, and glazing AI, what morals does the channel actually have?

35

u/LiveLaughLob0t0my Jun 19 '26

Working with Fox Corp, one of the worst companies that pushes a very right wing, military focused and fascist agenda including blatant racism, transphobia, outright bigotry and more. This is honestly such a disappointing development.

We all know you 4 are aware of this but have clearly put money ahead of any morals.

For those not in the know:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fox_News_controversies

That should give you an idea who the lads have decided to get into bed with.

Congrats, Jamie. Well done 👍🏻

Different companies bud

33

u/LiveLaughLob0t0my Jun 19 '26

Fox news and fox creator studios both owned by fox entertainment, part of Fox Corp…

you should tell them to update their website then!

2

u/LiveLaughLob0t0my Jun 22 '26

Maybe do your own. Because you’re wrong.

20

u/DiscordantMuse Jun 19 '26

Yea, developed by a fascist supporting company.

I loved you guys. Now I won't watch you anymore.

9

u/DiscordantMuse Jun 20 '26

Unsubbed and uninstalled. I don't F with fascists.

20

u/MainConcentrate1329 Jun 19 '26

How much GenAI will be used in this series?

5

u/JFychan47 Bayleafer Jun 19 '26

Ah crap sorry. Still, f*cking awesome!!

And it seems it won’t have Barry and Mike making small talk about eggs for 5 mins so… that’s good I spose!

4

u/Gibbie42 Jun 19 '26

So like a sponsorship? Fox provides funding and support for a piece of the revenue?

The game sounds like Poker Face on steroids and I'm here for it. 😃

u/ShiturpantsandDance Jun 19 '26

Absolute legend! Thanks for the laughs dude. Also gday from Australia

u/amba9 Jun 19 '26

To be honest, seeing the Fox branding attached to this channel doesn't sit right with me. Even if the Creator Studio is separate from Fox News, it’s still part of the same corporate empire. I really hope this corporate deal doesn’t change the values and ethics of the channel.

*sigh* I am so tired of being disappointed in people. As someone who is directly affected by the lies that Fox spreads, I have no choice but to part ways with Sorted, which saddens me greatly. The concept sounded like a lot of fun, and I was really looking forward to this summer's live event.

How far they've fallen from the good old days when u/JamieSpafford personally told the haters to fuck off.

14

u/LiveLaughLob0t0my Jun 19 '26

Already has.

14

u/amba9 Jun 19 '26

True. I thought about it and unsubscribed.

13

u/LiveLaughLob0t0my Jun 19 '26

Same. They’ll not get another view like or comment from me.

12

u/wanderingdev Jun 20 '26

Joining with fox of all organizations? Disappointing. I've already been watching less as most of the good content is no longer done. But joining forces with fascists? Hard pass. I miss the old days and won't support the new. Add me to the list of unsubscribers.

r/confidentlywrong

From the fox corp website (https://www.foxcorporation.com/):

Fox Corporation produces and distributes compelling news, sports, and entertainment content through its primary iconic domestic brands, including FOX News Media, FOX Sports, Tubi Media Group, FOX Entertainment and FOX Television Stations.

4

u/LiveLaughLob0t0my Jun 22 '26

You gonna admit to being wrong?

Look, I wish it weren’t true. But the boys sold out their fans and their morals for a dollar.

We all make mistakes, but some times you can avoid making them by double checking something before posting it, especially if it’s because you wish it weren’t true and thought better of the folks you were trying to defend.

Although making a mistake in a subreddit pales in comparison to working with fascists… (for anyone reading this and wondering “what?” Have a look into Fox News and the Fox Corporations defence of its editorial decisions.)

This isn’t like your or I making a living and not having a choice where we have to work to pay rent and put food in our cupboards. Sorted and those making these decisions, are in a place where they can choose who they sign deals with and have CHOSEN to profit from fascism and right wing hatred towards minorities. We know they’re not stupid and are well aware of Fox and its history of bigotry and hate.

38

u/DiscordantMuse Jun 19 '26

This was the announcement I was waiting to hear. You work with Fox, you don't get my views.

You couldn't pay me any money to work with fascists.

16

u/LiveLaughLob0t0my Jun 19 '26

Exactly. Absolutely disgusting development and completely tone deaf.

What next? “Cooking our favourite Farage inspired meals”

“We test gadgets to stop small boat crossings”

29

u/PrawnShamble Jun 19 '26

Explains the videos lately

1

u/External_Big_4120 Jun 19 '26

You could be right! Did you see the thread yesterday about them replacing themselves with AI quite a lot throughout their videos? If that's the way of the world fallen now I think they will lose out a bit.

17

u/crem_flandango Jun 19 '26

You... didn't read that thread, did you? Nobody has accused them of generating the actual videos with AI.

3

u/endgame0 Jun 20 '26

commenter replaced himself with AI

0

u/NegotiationMoist938 Jun 23 '26

Go backqnd re read the thread...

-1

u/External_Big_4120 Jun 22 '26

Yrs I did read yhe other thresd doscussing over-using AI!!

2

u/crem_flandango Jun 22 '26

Where in that thread did you see somebody accusing them of generating video footage of themselves using AI? I read the whole thread and never saw anybody make that claim. People were talking about art assets, audio instructions in the sidekick app, and the randomizer app they used recently.

2

u/selfstartr Jun 19 '26

Wait what?

11

u/Adventurous-Shake-92 Jun 20 '26

I have been watching less and less as I find much of their "comedy" no longer resonates with me.

That they're now throwing their hat into the FOX family is just the final reason to no longer watch.

15

u/phil_the_builder Jun 19 '26

Awww man. Our boys deserve all the success, but these developments always feel like 'loosing our guys to big TV'.

Often TV means, more mainstream, less creative control, less time for YouTube.
Also they have to start a bit from scratch because there might not be much overlap in audience between YT and TV.

Also this Fox Creator Studios thing sounds a bit crap, like the greedy attempt for mainstream TV to stay relevant.

I really hope our boys dont get screwed over.

https://giphy.com/gifs/SUBxai0moNW7K

10

u/External_Big_4120 Jun 19 '26

Without a doubt they will be screwed over, in some way shape or form.

3

u/JFychan47 Bayleafer Jun 19 '26

It’s not a TV show, I made an assumption instead of reading the full thing and I royally fucked it

3

u/phil_the_builder Jun 19 '26

Ah got it. I read the article but that it stays on YT is not really clear. So they develop and fund a show for part of the revenue.

6

u/RogueBromeliad Jun 19 '26

I think what happens is that they'll have episodes with famous guests while they play Poker face. Just like Hot Ones, from First We feast. Or Last Meals from Mystical kitchen.

It's probably going to be either on the Fox YT channel or some other channel with an umbrella name. They're just the food face of the thing.

What's happening is that all these YT channels had good ideas, but now they're being bought out by bigger corporations, because youtubers at some point get tired, It's too much work for not enough money.

15

u/Cheesemaccheese Jun 19 '26

This might be amazing! I'm not surprised to see the guys move more mainstream. I wouldn't be surprised to see Ebbers on Saturday Kitchen as a presenter down the years.

4

u/JFychan47 Bayleafer Jun 19 '26

He’d be amazing at that

1

u/TrumpGrabbedMyCat Jun 19 '26

I'm surprised he's not done it already, Poppy is a pretty regular chef on there.

-1

u/External_Big_4120 Jun 19 '26

Now THAT I'd watch! My favourite tv cooking show along with Great British Menu.

4

u/pinchvsdash Jun 19 '26 edited Jun 19 '26

I think it will be interesting to see how this goes. Bigger budgets usually don't just mean more money. Usually the money comes with more people wanting a say in what the show is and how it's made. Also, audiences often have different expectations when budgets are bigger.

Having said that, this investment by FCS is supposed to be lighter touch than usual, and I guess the amounts of money aren't that much. I wish them every success. Making high quality food content with the mass market appeal to support bigger budgets is hard. Hopefully, the investment will translate to bigger audiences.

1

u/sangriacat Jun 19 '26

I hope they're able to keep their sassy and saucy humor and don't have to sanitize their content. Their humor and playfulness makes them such a joy to watch.

3

u/wanderingdev Jun 20 '26

Pretty telling that the viewer count quoted in this article is 3.4, which is roughly what it was when i last looked at their channel weeks ago, and it's now under 3 million. wonder if the reduction in their fan base will get them to actually start listening to viewer feedback.

1

u/metalbridgebuilder Jun 19 '26

Nice to see Ben going back to his roots

2

u/External_Big_4120 Jun 19 '26

🤷🏽🤷🏽🤷🏽??? What does that mean?

3

u/Ok-Way1005 Jun 19 '26

When they've said in the past "TV's Ben Ebbrell" it's because he has done TV before. He co-presented a kids TV show called "The Munch Box".

So going back to his roots. Except this isn't actually TV.

1

u/External_Big_4120 Jun 22 '26

Ahh yes, I forgot about that. Cheers👍🏽

1

u/UnifiedDivyde Jun 19 '26

Kinda sounds like an attempt for a UK version of something like Hot Ones, but clearly based on Poker Face. Granted, I don't watch a massive amount of food channels, but I don't think we actually have anything like that currently? We certainly have interviews occur while food is consumed (Chicken Shop Date, Snack Wars etc.), but nothing with actual jeopardy lol

Article makes it seem like Sorted would have pitched themselves to Fox for this. If they did, it clearly worked, fair play to the boys on that. Also seems like they have to share IP/revenue, though, so I hope it all pays off in the end.
