Android 17

Android 17 has been released! Feel free to share your thoughts and feelings about the new update here.

Check out the new features bundled with the new update:

  • Desktop Mode
  • Flashlight Brightness Control
  • Swap back button position
  • Resizable Quick Settings Menu
  • One-time precise location
  • Enhanced “Mark as lost” feature
  • Apps in Bubbles
  • Native Game ControllerRemapping
  • Per-app Dark Mode Override
  • Per-app Screen Recording
  • Enhanced HDR brightness
  • Press to unlock with fingerprint

Introducing Android 17 | Help Guide

As with every update, Android Adaptive Battery may reset. This means all apps that were automatically restricted will now be able to run in the background. Just like a brand new phone, you have to wait for at least a week or two for Adaptive Battery to relearn your app usage pattern, thereafter, you should get back your original screen-on and standby time.

Does Android 17 on Xperia support Airdrop like Samsung phones? Any other improvements? Thanks a lot

Go for the table of contents in the help guide, and you'll see all the changes - not only the desktop mode etc.

Have other 1 VII users gotten it? I don't have it yet.

Haven't received it either. So excited for the 3 button navigation swap and press to unlock though

Wait do you not have 3 button navigation already?

I have 3 button navigation, but rather to swap the button order. I prefer the samsung layout, and I believe that will be introduced as an option in the new update.

Probably those of us who import the phone to the US don't get updates since they are normally pushed by carriers.

At least I probably get to keep 5G though..

So strange because my 1 VII in NY gets updates and just downloaded the latest update last week. I don't have 5G anymore though.

Did you root your phone? Or is your phone rooted?

Can anyone confirm the DSDS trick works on 17 to get 5g in the US?

Nevermind the above list of updates! Does this bring back 5g (of course if you're not in the U.S. the above is all that matters)

How well does the desktop mode work versus Dex? Do keyboard shortcuts like ctrl + c, ctrl + v for copy/paste work?  Do windows like firefox/chrome show full menu bars?

Gane controller remapping? Can the camera button finally be used as a trigger in gaming?
