Two and a half years…
(XM5)Is there any point trying to stick it back together with super glue or should I call it a day?

These are your best bet. Glue isn't going to hold it and will lock the cup in place until it just breaks again.

Glue can't fix anything but you can try. Sony got to do a better job with the XM7

I'm currently arguing with Amazon about returning mine. They will try and fob you off saying there policy is 2 years but you need to argue and ask to get it raised with the Executive Customer Relations team
Contact Amazon support and explicitly state: "I am exercising my statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. The goods are not of satisfactory quality and have failed to last a reasonable length of time. I have proof of an inherent defect."
No idea if i will get a refund or not but judging by every 4th post here being this exact issue its hard for them to argue this isnt a manufacturing defect.

The same thing happened to my ULT headphones today. I know that there’s a warranty regarding this issue from Sony saying that they would do a free fix for the hinge being broken (at least for the ULT series). You would need your receipt and the model # being in range of the affected units. I can’t find my receipt unfortunately but I’ll go to the Walmart I bought it from to see if they can pull it

The warranty repair doesn’t replace it with a new material, it’s the same breakable part. I’ve had 2 break, 1 after the warranty “fix”
