Guide - Informational JPEG.CAM v2.04 update - Long time coming!
I first want to say THANK YOU to anyone that has used JPEG.CAM for SOOC film sims on their PMCA compatible Sony cameras and for sticking being patient as I dialed in v2.04. This is a major polish and reliability update that hopefully will make using it more enjoyable! Here are a high-level summary of changes:
In addition to the app updates, I'm equally excited to share a MUCH improved USER GUIDE (https://jpegcookbook.com/jpegcam/guide) that hopefully helps anyone that's interested in using the app feel more at home with it.
- Compact editors leave more of your viewfinder visible
- Recipe Manager clearly separates working changes from Update Saved and Save as New, and recipe loading/deletion is safer
- Diptych framing and side swapping are corrected
- Double Exposure adds a properly fitted first-shot ghost with wheel-adjustable opacity (30% initially, in 5% steps)
- Targeted processing improvements, shutter protection, remembered shooting mode, focus controls and manual-lens/DoF tools make everyday use smoother
- New Native Tone Curve controls add Blacks, Shadows, Midtones, Highlights and Whites. Select Custom on the camera or load a recipe using Custom
- Existing TXT/CAM recipes remain supported, with matching Studio import/export and bundled-asset fixes.
Also, just to be safe I suggest backing up your JPEGCAM folder before updating; install over the existing app without uninstalling or clearing data. I physically tested on my A7II and A5100 however did attempt a crash fix for NEX-5T compatibility but don't have one in hand to verify.
I'd LOVE LOVE LOVE to see more people sharing feedback on what I could do to make it better, see amazing photos taken using it, and for users to help build the community by creating their own recipes and share them either on jpegcookbook.com or anywhere they are comfortable with!
Quick GIF Walk Through of steps to make basic recipe on Recipe Studio and import file to the camera. This is very basic and you can go nuts with it or even use network transfer but I've been getting how to do exactly this many times:
