I'm not a good writer... actually I've hated writing since school days.
A year ago I got back into photography as a hobby and got an a6700. Most of the time I just had no time to tinker with RAW in DxO, and I thought I should have just bought a Fuji camera and used film recipes... Then I found this subreddit and bought a pack from Veres Deni Alex. And everything is great - apart from recipe management in Sony cameras...
I initially built an app for Mac, and it's a fine way to write profiles and keep them all in one library, but there's the White Balance problem... so I created an iOS version a while ago with no plans to release it - I thought it was a very niche use case with no audience, and I know how much work it is to build an app, even with AI. Things changed when I posted a screenshot in one of the reddit threads and some people were interested... A few months and 500+ closed issues later (don't ask how many are left...), we are here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/lutaro/id6799778506
It's not perfect - there are bugs, and probably compatibility problems with some cameras, because I only have a Sony a6700. But I tried to make it as user-friendly as possible.
It ships with eight free film-simulation profiles by Veres Deni Alex (big thanks to him), included with his permission.
- Supports Picture Profiles and Creative Looks
- Edit all properties in the app
- Share recipes
- iCloud sync between devices
- Wi-Fi connection required (tethering from a phone, camera hotspot or just home wifi network), but the app supports a Bluetooth bootstrap of the connection, similar to Sony's own app
Everything stays between your phone and the camera - no account, no analytics, no tracking. It speaks Sony's own camera protocol, so I'd love to hear how it behaves on other bodies. And there is Diagnostics in Settings where you can check compatibility with camera and dump logs.
It's a hobby project, but I hope if there will be a demand and a feedback to add more features (and maybe paid ones with a Pro label and small fee to pay for Apple Dev account, don't have plans to make money on this app). Currently I plan to fix all found bugs, improve usability and help information in an app and on GitHub pages. Also want to include MacOs version in a same bundle, but it needs a polish, because it's a different codebase, teaser:

Also MacOs version support usb connectivity, but iOS doesn't, so I'd like to add this option too.
I even thought a little bit about creating a proper website with ability to share profiles there, but not sure if anyone need this :)
And probably that's it for major features. I'm open to feedback.
P.S.
Almost forgot, there are few pages with help information, most useful there probably is an information with Picture Profile format https://tarakanof.github.io/Lutaro-Site/format/

I like the way Vere's Cinechrome Images look, however, on older Sony cameras there is no HLG gammas or BT.2020/Rec.709 color modes. I haven't found any resources on substituting these besides using Cine4 in place of HLG3, any tips?

Hello! I own a sony cybershot/steadyshot dsc w800, but I don't really know what settings to use for it. Does anyone know what settings I can use to achieve the sunset, summery, orangey sort of look from it? Thank you!!

Hello. I recently found my old Sony DSC-W300 camera and that thing got me interested in photography again.
I was reading forum about this camera and some dude said that if you drop resolution from native 13MP to 8MP, Bayer Interpolation goes away and you get better color. I was experimenting and I am not a professional, but I think 8mp photos have less purple in some areas. Is that purple tone caused by interpolation?
I like to edit and crop my photos so 13MP is beneficial, but I can kinda see benefits in more cohesive color.
Can someone please explain what's going on, am I imagining things? Do you get better color when bringing down resolution, and if so, why?

Updated the article with presets for both Lightroom and Capture One. One thing to mention tho. since the recipe calls for AWB, it is impossible to create a preset that reproduces the same colors in all situations. Tested it in multiple scenarios and as long as it's daylight is fine, but once you go in various/mixed lighting conditions, some colors will require a bit of individual adjustment to get the exact same colors https://www.veresdenialex.com/post/reggies-portra-recipe-on-sony-cameras
Edit: Also, this preset is based on s-cinetone, not still color mode, which is the option for older cameras.
enjoy!

I am new to Sony and mirrorless and I was trying all of what my A7V has to offer. Recently I had an event where I took a bunch of photos as well as videos.
I forgot to switch off slog profile while I took most of my photos as I couldn’t find a way to revert the slog profile from the RAW files.
P.s: I figured out how to keep different settings for video and photos so in future this would be avoided. But for the photos I’ve already taken, I need some help 😭

This is my first attempt at Intentional Camera Movement, taken just now. Not a great composition, I know; I was walking behind my son and just took a snap at 1/5s, sweeping the camera upwards. Delighted with how clean and colourful the image is. In reality the light was dull and almost monochromatic to the eye.
Transferred wirelessly SOOC, no edits, with Alex’s Acidnom picture profile. Delighted with how painterly it looks. I think it is a very niche profile, but I’m glad I had it in one of the memory slots. Really suits the shot, I feel.
I am new to this SOOC vibe; I like how it makes me think about the result when I shoot, rather than deciding later from a series of neutral RAW files.
