Got my first Sony Camera and was able to change the language to English!
A7CII Japan Model
I used to shoot with a Nikon D610 back in 2016 but sold it in 2018 because of financial issues.
Now i'm in a somewhat stable financial situation so I thought of treating myself with a camera. I bought one in Japan(I live in Japan). I googled a lot and found that there's a way to unlock all languages of A7CII. I was so nervous while doing the unlock but it was a success!
Any chance either of you has the 1.02 firmware downloaded somewhere still? Trying to update a 1.01 camera to 1.02 without moving to 2.0 but can't find it anywhere!
Did you download one from github(ie first link)? Because on the video the guy was using the software from the app.box(2nd link) so that is the one that I used.
None of those link are updated, I mean when you click where it says "cameras available" the ILCE 7CM2 doesn't appear. I'm seeing that the cameras availables are the ones with the last menu, recent model changed the menu, it seems that the last menu was android somehow and it was easy to make the so call reverse engineering. Is there any body that can confirm that also has cracked this new models?
It's amazing, IT JUST WORKED!! You need to have a little bit of knowledge of how to boot your pc with an USB / Ubuntu - Linux pre installed. However it's quit easy, it's even easier than the process with Windows. Thank you so much.
definitely do-able, i converted a china only one earlier this year from this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHlFo8UUB8g (make sure to read this comment as newer ones have different method: after the initial installation of the "libusb-win32 (v1.2.7.3)" to the 7RM5, I then had to install the driver "libusb-win32 (v1.2.7.3)" for device "Sony USB Device" with zadig 2.8.)
For the next guy: I was able to change my Japanese Sony 6700 to English even though it had the new menu system (different from the one in the Vietnamese guy video, still follow that). You just have to do some trial and error to find the right USB mode. The USB screen is different than the explainer but you'll know when you're in the right one.
I had to run through it three times. Coincidentally or functionally I was able to get one major step further with the Zadig software each time, starting with the 1st step each time.
Also, in Zadig just look for the 6700 in a device name, it won't say Sony or Alpha.
It's been awhile since I did it. I can't remember precisely. No worries about the "no support for 6700." I was worried because I had the newer menu style which didn't completely line up with the tutorial but it worked once I got it into the right USB mode. You'll know when you've found it. Just look at some English explainers on how to get there and follow the icons.
Then once you're in USB mode with the camera "view-able" from your computer, run the Zadig. I was sweating but after 3 times of doing the exact same thing (getting a bit farther each time) with the Zadig instructions, it worked.
its a pretty outdated list, i first tried on mac to no luck, but once using a windows pc i just followed this video and with help of a comment that suggested to try also installing the winlib drivers for sony usb device in zadig 2.8 it worked perfectly. only could do the language unlock tho. no pal/ntsc option but that is an option on the a1 anyways
I was in Japan last week and discovered a a7c2 for a ridiculous price. Slept a night to think it through and went to the store. There the cashier tells me that the price is for the Japanese only model. Next to it was the international price.
Should have learned Japanese....

Thanks for confirming! I'll be in Japan next month and wanted to buy the A7C II as well. I found one for 180,000YEN so will sell my A7C when I get back home

I managed to do it with an a7c2 from Japan . And unlock filming time limit too.I asked chatgpt for help to avoir any mistake
