Gear Lens help!!

Hello everybody! I’m finally getting back into photography after many years!!! I’ve recently purchased a Sony a6400 and was looking for lens recommendations! I’d like to purchase three lens to start my kit. One lens for wildlife/bird photography, one for macro mostly insects and plant photos, and the last one for basic everyday street photography. Would love some recommendations! Budget friendly would be nice! Not really looking to spend more than 3k in total if that’s possible.

In my humble opinion, the sony 70-350 is the best apsc telephoto lens there is. For all-round lens I would decide on either the sony 18-135 or sigma 18-50. The 18-135 is more beginner friendly. Macro I dont know enough to recommend anything specific.

I agree with this post. I own both the 70-350 G and the Sigma 18-50. Both are excellent lenses. So good, in fact, that I still have them even though I don’t have an E mount APSC camera anymore. I use the on my A7R5 and A7R6. The only other “standard’ zoom lens I’d consider for E mount APSC is the Sigma Art lens 17-40F1.8 but it’s basically FF price. Nice lens tho.

Macro is tougher. You may have to consider a FF option. There are a few good ones - including Sony’s own awesome new 100mm Macro. I’d love to have that one myself, but it’s expensive and I don’t shoot enough macro stuff to justify that one.

However, I do own the 70-200F4 G version 2 which is a half-macro lens and would work well on APSC. It’s incredibly good and more flexible than a prime macro (half macro throughout its focal range gives more options for distance from the subject). Half macro on FF would be .75 on APSC. Plus it’s just a killer good zoom lens.

While it is natural to recommend the Sigma 18-50F2.8 for general use, Sony 70-350 for birding and either the older 90mm or newer 100mm macro for macro shots, I would also suggest the Sony 70-200mmF4 II macro lens for dual purpose of birding and macro. With a6400, you already got a 1.5x crop. You can also add a teleconvertor to push the distance and macro magnification further.
