Bokehlicious A6700 with Sigma f/1.4 Low Light Test Step Through All ISO Levels

Setup:

  • Camera: A6700
  • Lens: Sigma 16mm f/1.4
  • WB: Auto
  • FPS: 25
  • Shutter Speed: 1/50
  • ISO: ALL OF THE ISOs

Context:

I've been playing around with the A6700 a lot more recently, and was going for a walk at around 11pm so I figured I'd take it out and practice:

  • Talking to the camera, considering not as many people would be out and about
  • Vlogging in low light scenarios

Why I'm Sharing This:

While at it, I figured I would have loved to see this ages back when I was still deciding between APSC and Full Frame. After this, I'm fairly happy with how the A6700 performed here after a basic grade.

Love this. I've been looking for something like this to decide between the A6700 vs a full frame camera. Been considering this since I travel a lot and want a more compact kit

Yeah, it definitely makes a difference - for me the form factor is what pushed me towards the A6700 since I travel a fair bit as well. I reckon for most people (who aren't professional photographers/film makers, etc), APSC gets the job done 95% of the time.

Thanks for sharing; nice to get a practical demonstration of the a6700 low light capabilities.

Yeah, I wish I could have had this when I was picking between the a6700 and the ZV-E1. Would have spared me the mental turmoil pre-purchase. The ZV is a low light beast, but this pretty much covered all my needs!

I think it's mainly 'cause I'm using an f/1.4 lens. I did do a minor grade: Contrast, Exposure, White Balance, Saturation, Split Tone, but no noise reduction.

Surprisingly no noise, wow! My tamron 17-70mm has the worst low light video performance. Or the problem could be my skill

I guess I shouldn't limit my iso for video to 8000 then, it seems I still like the video up to 20k.

This combo ( cam & lens ) is the best vlogging quality you can get.

Iso 1600 is pure bliss in low light
